Stand With Ukraine Bundle question

Regarding the Stand With Ukraine Bundle, it says all proceeds go to care.org. Sounds great. Question: If we buy this item do we get some kind of receipt that officially states that this amount went to CARE that we can use for US tax purposes?

I'm certainly no tax expert, but can it really be considered a charitable donation if you're getting product in return?

Many charities, PBS stations especially give "premiums" or "thank you gifts" in return for donations. They provide a statement of fair market value that is subtracted from the donation amount. Standard charity practice.

The Daz store is not a charity, and PBS isn't selling the tote bags or whatever. Providing someone a gift in exchange for a legitimate donation is not the same as a store donating the proceeds from selling a product.

  • They have done similar bundle projects before, and no, we saw no receipts. Nor tbh, was I expecting one.

I am way over on my charity giving for my income, per my Federal and State taxes, but I still bought the bundle. But, if you want to contribute individually and get a tax credit, I am sure you can if you go on the CARE website. I have a monthly one going to Mercy Corps as I felt so frustrated by not being able to do anything to help. This purchase today just adds to that.

I also want to thank all the PAs who contributed to it and to DAZ.

Yes, Daz is making the donation, not us. That pretty much settles it.
