dForce Tutorial doesn't make any sense

Greetings all,

I am attempting to 'add dforce' to an item. However, the tutorial does not seem to align with what options are actually available.

The tutorial I am referring to is here: https://renderguide.com/daz-dforce/
Specifially the section that says: "Where says Unused Maps, we want to add Influence Weights and click on “Add Map”." ... well, this is not a viable option. I cannot find the Influence Weights ANYWHERE to add it or anything else. When I open the dropdown menu next to 'Unused Maps', all I see are a bunch of TriAx options and Scale... nothing about Weight Map anywhere to be seen.

In fact, the part just prior to that, where it says: "Also, we will add a dForce Modifier Weight Node to define which parts are less likely to move and which parts are more likely to freely motion. " doesn't seem to exist either. I cannot seem to find any option to add a Weight Node.

Am I missing something, or is the tutorial slightly broken in how it is written?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
TIA.

You need to complain to render guide, they made  the tutorial no?

My advise. add a sphere and add a plane to a scene.

make sure the plane has lots of divisions. I'ts just to test, so give it a 100.

Select the plane and add a Dforce modifier - then simulate, the plane should drape over the sphere - presuming you moved the plane above the sphere.

    That is the basic process.

Now, if that all worked, you know that everything is probably set up right with your installation, and that you're are finding the correct options to add.

I appreciate the reply. However, I don't have any issues with adding basic dforce to basic items, such as a plane draping over a sphere like the fabric displays.

It is the extra options for adding the weight nodes and actually getting the weighted areas to be created and work. If I follow the tutorial, none of the options align. If I stray from that tutorial and use a different one, which explains it differently, about half of the options are available.. but either way, I can never select add influence weights on the item nor the weighted map.

I'm just trying to add 'simple' dforce physics to existing items, such as an earring, so that it will 'settle' naturally when the simpulation is enabled... or even portions of hair that are not already dforce enabled, like the braids of a hair set that were not originally dforce modified by the creator, yet the bangs are, which is just f'ing retarded imho... why dforce half of your product?

Anyway, it just seems like things are not very clear in any tutorial that I find.

Maybe try this DAZ Forum thread : https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/208141/how-to-use-dforce-creating-a-blanket-draping-clothes-on-furniture-and-much-more-commercial/p1

It has detailed and accurate information about just about every aspect of the dForce cloth engine.

  • Thanks for the reference Spacious. I'll give that an attempt to see if the options are in there somewhere.

Did you add a weight node?

With the dforce cloth selected, (top left menu)" Create > New dForce Modifier Weight Node". Once added, in Tool settings > Node Weight Map Brush" you should see the dForce simulation options to select, then add a map.

You can add a weightnode, if after you have applied dForce modifier, then Create dForce Modifier Weight Node.

To edit it you need to select the weight editing tool.
