Yes, musical instruments and ensembles are something I can use ... so a big thank you for the many instruments so far. Keep them coming, please.
Here is an ensemble I am working on as a sample of my thanks.

great stuff from Protozoon for sure. I have everything except the new French harn and conductor. Will buy oth though.
So happy for this! Hopefully a clarinet/oboe/English horn is forthcoming. Melody Man tuba & cornet will round out my orchestra then.
Impressive scene!! Can't believe you can even render that kind of resource heavy scene. You must have done some serious optimizing.
Nice render @3141592654, good job with the audience!
Protozoan indeed has done us a great service with his Instruments (and poses!). I still lack the French Horn, the outfit and the conductor, which I must have overlooked (Thankyou for mentioning , @daveso)
Thank you! I have done several scenes with a lot of people involved. The main 'trick' I use is to layer things front to back so i can make multiple renders and layer it back together in a photo editing program. For example, the second row of the audience is a separate render from the rest of the image. The biggest thing to be aware of is keeping the lighting consistent throughout. I do not remember my exact layout on this one, but the piano, conductor, and two singers looks like another separate layer.
Hmmm ... there are so many useful instruments that are possible that I do not want to constrain the artist ... but upon reading this, I will agree some type of woodwind like a clarinet or oboe (or bassoon) would be a nice addition.
Oh -- we need a bass as well.
I bought the French horn and the conductor today. Now I'm caught up. Thanks, Protozoon.
A contrabass, or some sort of bass woodwind like a clarinet?
yes, contrabass.
An awesome render! How did you create the crowd?
There is one very beautiful big instrument already waiting to be released ;) and a clarinet is well on its way to be finished. A double bass (contrabass) after the clarinet.
Wow ... wonderful to hear that so much is already in the works and coming. Thank you.
How did I create the crowd? I am not sure what detail you are looking for, but here are a few:
) one reason I started this image was a personal challenge to see what could be done with Daz+ ... about 95% of this image is Daz+ products [yes, platinum club clothing, people, instruments, etc]
) that really is about 16 people and their outfits posed in the crowd (they are not billboards) - posing was tedious as this amount of memory usage made movement slow.
) they were rendered in 2 (or maybe 3) sets and layered together in a photo editing program (along with 2 or 3 more layers for the stage people).
) I 'cheated' in that the same characters used on stage were simply given different clothing and turned around to become the audience
PS: when I started this image, you had not yet released your drum set ... so I may have to revisit this image, fix that, add a few more players, and get the french horn included.
The render is gone. Did you delete the thumbnail? That will cause the render to be visible only to yourself, AFAIR.
You can find it here:

Thanks - looks great!
Hmmm ... I am guessing that when my image was approved for the gallery it changed the link address. I have fixed it in the original post.
Perhaps we can make this a thread displaying images of Protozoan musical instruments?
I might have to renew my DAZ+ membership just for those.
I would like to add that the Protozoan instruments do retexture / toonify nicely. Here is an example with the grand piano:
And here are a few more quick attempts with toon shading:
What do you use to toonify?
I could make coloring pages for my cello students and my kids with that outlining thing. What is that product?
There are two ways to approach this.
The method I have used for a few years is a product (no longer sold in the store) called ToonyCam ... it is used for cartoon effects and has an outline feature.
Starting in (I am not sure, maybe) 4.14, these same effects with very similar controls were added in the rendering tab. I tried it there a few times, but I went back to ToonyCam simply because it has presets as well as manual controls. The rendering tab only had manual controls if I am remembering correctly.
Typically, it helps to produce an outline between sections if the colors are very different ... if it is just an outline, it does not matter the colors (for example one part yellow the other part purple and a third part green).
If you need more details, let me know and I can try to look up the exact process and the settings I use ... but there are only a few sliders involved - and I think only 1 slider specifically for outline [ again, based on memory].
Oh yeah ... I think these rendering controls are for 3Delight - or more likely in scripted 3Delight (again, based on memory).
would this work?
LineRender9000 | Daz 3D
Probably. It is more complex than the other method, but it can yield great results as it makes multiple render passes with different effects. Perhaps, I will find time tomorrow to try an instrument with both and see how they compare.
Beautiful lighting and use of shadow! The fact that so much of the screen is in partial darkness is what really sells the image. In real life, most candid photos are not usually well lit!
Just started modeling an F-style mandolin, though I couldn't expect to make it to Protozoon's standards.
...snapped up the French Horn immediately.
The orchestra is growing.. Waiting for the Oboe, English Horn, Bassoon, a percussion expansion set (that includes tubular bells, vibraphone, glockenspiel, and celesta) and Viola. Along with the Double Bass and Tuba those should pretty much round out a good classical orchestra.
One plan is to render a several scenes in which Leela is performing with a full orchestra. One set at the Musikverein in Vienna, the other in Carnegie Hall in New York.
I'm excited for the next instrument - spotted the teasers on your facebook page!
And seriously looking forward to the double bass / upright - I was so hoping one was in the works, so I could use it for some jazz renders. Great to know it's coming!
Thank you for all the instruments!
...just checked the FB page and definitely on the list.
Also saw what looked like a vibraphone in another pic. Used to play one of those when I was in percussion. However as they usually have a pedal to lift the keys off the damper bar for sustain.
Here's a lovely rendition of Debussy's first arabesque arranged for vibraphone
