Victoria 8.1 from Victoria 4.2

Hello. I'm an old school user of Poser as well as Daz 3D. I've been using Victoria 4.2 Starter Bundle for sometime now. I'm interested in upgrading to Victoria 8.1. My concern is the accesories and clothing and morphs I've bought for V4.2. Will things that conform to V4.2 also conform to V8.1? Such as shoes and clothing and morph++? If they won't, then I'll just stay with Victoria 4.2 because it would be a waste of money and time to buy Victoria8.1. Thanks.

    First, Victoria 8.1 is a character for Genesis 8.1 Female rather than a base figure like Victoria 4.

    Genesis 8.1 can convert clothing (and other fitted items) from older versions of Genesis and the original Genesis can convert Victoria 4 fitted items, so you have a free route to get those trasnfered (although not perfectly - custom bones, such as skirt handles or taisl on hair, get lost and things that project away from the figure, such as high heels, can come a cropper).

    There are routes for morphs and textures but theya re not free and can be fiddly.

    Moreover, Genesis 8.1 Female is most at home in DAZ Studio.

    The best way for you is to use Genesis 1 that's fully compatible with V4 and you'll get a modern figure also compatible with Poser.

    Personally, I'd get what you fancy from Genesis 8/8.1 lineup, and when there isn't an alternative you feel like purchasing - use V4

    I convert textures from V4, G1 and 2 to G3, which means they are also available for G8.

    I have transferred a few shapes just for variety, and alternatively I just dialled them in to match - or created my own morph.

    I have very rarely converted clothing, but it has happened.

    So basically, what you guys are saying is, Stay with V4.2 and don't buy V8. The reason I wanted V8.1 is she has more realistic skin maps than V.4.2. I might get V8.1 and experiment. I have no problem doing that. Does Genesis 8 come with the latest version of Daz Studio?

    All the Genesis base figures are included with Daz Studio for free, you don't need to buy V8 or V8.1 to get the base figures, V8 and V8.1 are just characters for G8F/G8.1F just like any other G8/G8.1 character in store.

    Way back when Victoria 1 to 4 were current, Victoria was pretty much the base character (I know she wasn't the only one), but ever since the first Genesis generation, she was demoted to just a character amongst other characters.
    For Genesis 1 to 3, there were quite a lot of characters that did require also the Victoria for the relevant generation, but on Genesis 8/8.1, the number of those characters has gone down.
