Has Anyone Used the Exporter for Vue 2015 Yet?

There's a lot of great content made for VUE that apparently can be exported using a new VUE add-on and can be used in DAZ Studio and Poser now.

I'm curious if anyone's tried it and what their experience was?

Thanks!

That's just the Vue 2015 version of the Exporter module that has been around for a long time now. Note that "EcoSystems and locked Cornucopia3D content cannot be exported". Here's what is new:

Easily exchange geometry with ZBrush using GoZ (terrains as quads, other meshes as triangles)
Import and export scenes, objects or camera paths, and import synchronization data as Alembic (ABC) files
Import geo-located terrains as DTED, SDTS/DDF, and GeoTIFF (on top of DEM files)
Export Rocks and baked HyperBlobs to any standard 3D file format
    Export VUE scenes to LumenRT

Edit: I am using the beta hot fix right now which breaks some .OBJ imports. Not sure about exports, but you may want to wait for the first non-beta patch before giving it a try. Note also that even though you cannot export ecosystems, you can create IBLs, skydomes, etc.

I didn't know that. What happens to the "solid growth" trees when you export them?

    Thanks!

There is nothing different compared to previous versions. Solid growth plants export as .obj (and some other formats) with poor topology and high polycount. Some are ok, most require substantial work in a modeler to look good. The excellent procedural materials get exported as crappy bit maps (plus lots of issues with transparency in most cases). I would recommend to import Poser/DS content to Vue, not the other way round. Vue plants (SolidGrowth and also TPF) are procedural and that is really their strengths. Once you take them out of Vue, you loose that advantage and you are better off with plants that are modeled for use in DS and Poser, like some of the excellent onces available here, for example Andrey Pestryakov's store: http://www.daz3d.com/andrey-pestryakov
    Ciao

Those are the new Vue Infinite features, not the features you will get with the exporter module designed for the artist line (f.e. Alembic Import/Export is missing in the exporter module).

Good catch. Forgot that some of those features are only in Vue Infinite (and presuambly xStream). Sorry for any confusion!
