Secret Aztec Temple

Please, can anyone tell me if the altar figure of the 'Secret Aztec Temple' can be hidden? The environment looks good, but this figure is unfortunately as little 'Aztec' as my grandmother. Maybe it was an accidental lip injection on an Olmeca figure, but - well, never mind. Not only PAs will never learn to distinguish pre-Columbian cultures; it's futile… Still, the architecture of this 'Aztec' temple interests me; the model seems very well done. Thank you!

Someone has to be the first to discover said secret - which negates the name of course!

Dreamlight, one of the PAs, has created 3 YT videos, where you can have a look at it:

    and

If the figure is a mesh, you can always hide it, but may need to replace what you deleted: e.g. If there is no ground below that figure, you will have to be able to cover that up with e.g. a shaded plane.

Anyway this tutorial teaches how to hide geometry:

I was going to say something about that obviously Olmec-inspired head in an "Aztec" temple, but didn't want to start a whole thread just to be pedantic. I'm glad you did, though, because you asked the real question, which is why has it had collagen implants in its lips? No, that's not the real question. The real question, as you said, is "how can we hide it?"

Because the scene as whole looks pretty nice, and much of the architecture is reasonably Aztec-ish. It's in my wishlist.

I don't see the head listed as a separate part in the parts list. I think the parts are mostly the replicated items, and the main temple is probably a single object that includes the Olmec head. This looks to be one of Dreamlight's best models yet, but they haven't yet reached the Stonemason level of obsessive detail where everything is a separate object and you can spend days turning things off and on until you get the effect you want.

Your options may be limited to either choosing your camera angles carefully, or going in and doing some damage with the Geometry Editor. The latter option could be tricky unless you have a powerful machine, because there are probably a lot of polygons in that model.

You can surface edit and put this Jungle Head on top of it, or you can geometry edit the other one out (not too difficult) and replace it with something else.

a send to Hexagon and the smooth brush could probably reduce it too

I don't own it or I would create a thin lipped morph in Zbrush for you

Thanks to all for the good tips and understanding of my problem with this model. I don't want to be pedantic, but when I see e.g. the Aztec calendar stone in a 'Maya' environment for the hundredth time, I get the furor teutonicus...wink It's like putting a Norwegian stave church on the Bosporus.

I usually buy Dreamlight stuff and am always very happy with it, but I went back and forth on this one a couple of times - in the cart, out of the cart, back in, back out. So far it is out and will probably stay that way until a ridiculous sale.  It is all very cool except for that head which cannot be not seen.  And to be honest, if it was a much better depiction of the famous Olmec head I would have actually bought it. This statue head looks like it was made for claymation which is odd as the other smaller statues/heads in the scene are very well done IMO.  There are so many cool statues they could have referenced.

    Wishlisted.

To add to this theme: The Olmec head isn't a real Olmec head. This one is obviously made of several stones, the Olmecs chiselled their stone heads from one single bloc of stone.
This faux head is keeping me from buying.

Funny you should say that. Norwegian stave churches and the Varangian Guard were pretty much contemporary. Given the number of Norwegians in the service of the emperor at Constantinople, and the trade links that undoubtedly existed between Scandinavia and the Byzantine empire during that period, maybe a stave church on the Bosphorus is not actually the most unlikely thing ... wink
