So, what's the story with the Introductory Discount?

So, what's the story with the Introductory Discount?
I have noticed a pattern forming these last few days. New items start at 30% off, as usual, but that lasts only a few days, then it drops to 25% off for the rest of the first week, then drops again to 20% off for the remainder of its two-week intro period.
Is this intended to instill a sense of urgency? Buy now before it goes up? High pressure sales tactics don't work on me, I am more likely to walk away. There will always be some who must have the latest item yesterday, but many like to hear some reviews about it before committing. It might lead to more cases of buyer's remorse than feeling like you got a good deal just in time.
I don't recall seeing any announcement about a new introductory price schedule. I just looks like one more sneaky way of cashing in on buyer FOMO. Oh, right. Marketing...
Maybe this is what they were trying to do with the 30% - 20% - 30% - 20% dancing intro discount of the last couple of months.

I actually agree with what you say.
Wait is, there any conformation that this is intended? I thought It's just another store glitch.
I mean, making a change like this without any sort of announcement or info on the product sites or anything else would still be less professional than such a weird glitch in the software but given DAZ's semi-recent business decisions it's not unimaginable - I guess.
I believe daz might be experimenting with intro sales to try to bolster them (encouraging users to buy sooner), maybe it works, maybe it back fires? - no idea.
I can tell you that intro sales have been weaker compared to what they used to be -and that's putting it mildly.
IMO the underlaying problems with intro sales are much deeper:
1) Global Economy, inflation is starting to bite (price rises), everyones $$$ is going alot less further now.
2) Intro sales sometimes competing with many back catalouge sales that offer deeper discounts than 30% - which are going to be more attractive.
3) Crowded market, way, way more products and PAs now than there used to be.
Thant's my 2 cents anyway, tough times I guess.
I looked at the new items and checked their ReadMes. The scheme appears to be: 30% 1st 3 days, 25% next 4 days, 20% 2nd week.
It's not going to work on me unless it's an item that I've been anticipating, such as Mal3Imagery's suit. Otherwise, everything else goes in the wishlist. It would've been nice if Daz had announced it with a note of regret. But it may be better to just pull stuff on the unsuspecting and create a chaotic atmosphere.
I've repathed my spending to 3D printing and other stores. I will come here and see what, if anything, is at decent discount, and something I sort of need. Otherwise, I have enough product for the rest of my life and have been considering resurrecting v4 and m4, which can be used in many instances. Overall inflation though has curbed my overall spending a lot, and now, i am considering ending some of my other subscriptions as well. Anyway, yeah ... have a good evening, or morning, depending where you are,.
It's been that way for as long as I can remember
My discretionary income went to a deep freezer, vacuum sealer and any sale I can find on good meat and other foods. Inflation is a b****h.
Having said that, Daz products are just not wowing me lately. I dunno what happened in the last few months, but Daz HAD been making progress on more male characters and items. Now, female fever is worse than it EVER was. I just have no more use for more females. I've got enough. Even the few males that do trickle out have been INCREDIBLY disappointing and underwhelming. The last DO males I really liked were Torment and Wolfgang. The only saving grace has been Kooki99...they've been killing it in the males department ;).
I actually find this a fine comprmise, instead of the straight 20% they previously tried.
But... as long as deals keep going in the "buy 500 new releases to unlock some discounts I wouldn't buy stuff at, even if there was no catch at all" I don't really care what the intro discount is. With some exceptions, I don't buy new releases without side deals that give me an in cart average I'm happy with.
Just my two cents, but the assumption that EVERYONE wants the latest and greatest is false. While a majority of the people do. some percentage don't. EVERYONE is competing for G8.1 and that area is saturated but no new products are being released for G3 or G2. If they were, I feel confident that they would quickly sell because of lack of competition for thoese characters. Again, just my two cents.
I almost NEVER buy New Releases because they're usually only 30% discounted. By the time the New Release becomes a NOT New Release and get's discounted 50% for some sale - THE THRILL IS GONE - and I don't want it any more. This has happened countless times with me.
As prices go UP, the quantity sold goes DOWN.
Looks like the introductory discount is now holding at 30% for the full two weeks. I guess the experiment is over.
