I never saw the movie, but when I saw your image,I was sure the man with the pipe was Walter Pidgeon... and the displaced slag heap really pops out...I wonder how many times Bryce crashed while you were "experimenting " with displacement... Very Well done!

2nd attempt at this, have changed the mat on the slag heap. It is not so pretty, but looks more like a real slag heap methinkest. Thanks to David for his help.

It's ironic really that the best film about Wales was actually not filmed in Wales, although it had originally been meant to be. There was a little problem at the time, why they couldn't film in Wales (like a world war) Difficult to make a film with bombs falling out of the sky.
So many impressive renders! Seems like each round, they get better and better. Looks like the judges will be given some really difficult choices. ;-)

Excellent challenge and very creative images.
Here's my entry:
"Forbidden Planet"
An homage to the 1956 sci-fi classic starring Walter Pidgeon, Leslie Nielson, Anne Francis, and of course, Robby the Robot.
Space ship modeled in Modo, everything else done in Bryce 7.1 Pro. Illuminated with the Bryce moon and a Distance light.
Rendered at 64 RPP with True Ambiance, in just under 3 hours.
Chohole - When you mentioned you were making an old film circa 1941, I googled black and white films of that year, and How Green Was My Valley was the one that straight away caught my eye. As a child I remember my parents watching the series adapted for TV in the 1960's of the movie. So then I googled scenes from the movie.
And I knew that someone as talented as you would be able to pull it off . And you did

Yes maybe a merge of the two using an overlay layer style in Photoshop would work

Since black and white is hot again, my third one is also in that vein. This one is much younger than 'How green is my valley'. It is from 1960. Since the most famous scene is not fit for this forum (violence), I have this peaceful view.
I hope you remember the house where Norman Bates lives, with his mother. To the right a very small piece of Bates motel.
I am sure Chohole will be able to indicate the correct name of this very famous film.
All, except the lace curtains behind the windows are made in Bryce or came with Bryce (the plants). Most of it made from primitives. As a good movie scene has to be, the house is not a complete house and the motel is just a very small part of a facade (I am too lazy to make things you cannot see anyway).
Lighting uses IBL of the sky + a very low fill light to get this effect. True ambiance and soft shadows used. No postwork at all (which is quite abnormal for me, I usually increase contrast a bit or so).
Hope you like it and don't get any nightmares!
