Is there a Free program or pugin addon that will allow me to open .max files?

Between Blender, Hex, and Daz, I can open almost any 3d file format, and convert it to Daz. But I've hit a snag with .max files. for today I'm downloading a free trial of Autodesk, which should, in theory, work for today. I did find a plugin that is supposed to work with blender, but doesn't seem to be. Anyone know of a Plugin for Blender/Hex/Daz that allow me to import .max files, or a freebie program that opens .max for conversion?

Thanks

.max is a closed, proprietary format I'm afraid.

I was afraid someone would say that... I guess I have 30 days to make sure I've got everything converted.

There is NO other way to do it...no converters that don't rely on having Max installed, to begin with. There are several that will convert items IF you already have Max installed, without opening the whole program to do so...

I do believe you can get another 30 day trial with each yearly release though if that helps.
Worse case senario Autodesk has cloud services where you can rent Max etc for a few months at a time at nice dear prices but still a lot less than buying it.

    Lolololololo..... No. :)

For the prices I saw, as well as the fact that it requires a constant connection to their servers (which was lost several times while I was using it) , I'm pretty sure I could commission one of Daz's artist to build me a much better item that was ready to use.

It was just a hope anyways...
