Queston about Studio's lights

Quick question for something I'm working on, does Studio have something that is comparable to Poser's Point lights? And by comparable, I mean pretty much works the same?

On the menu on top click on create. You will see all the light options.

I'm on my mac and my mac won't run Studio. Anyway, the question has now changed.

I'm trying to create the lighting effect in this bulb. Can this be done in Studio?

    Greetings,
If the wire inside is its own geometry, then yeah, you can apply a light-emitter shader to it, either for Iray or for 3Delight.

    Is that what you mean?

Will Studio read and load a pre-loaded Poser scene file? Lights, cameras and all?

Lights generally don't translate, cameras are touchy but most come across OK.

Hmm, well, that's a problem, but maybe something I can compensate for.

I hate to keep asking what you guys probably think are stupid questions about Studio, but I'm working on a project now and I don't have time to experiment to find out the answer. Does Studio have a "smart prop" feature like Poser? And if so, how does it work? For that matter, if I have a prop that is smart propped in Poser, will Studio detect it?

    Greetings,
Yes, DAZ Studio supports smart-props. My recollection, however, is that in both Poser and DAZ Studio, it only matters on loading the object. (They'll 'snap' to the hands, for instance.) Once it's in the scene, it's just a child item, and has a normal translate/rotate/scale setting, so it'd load into DAZ Studio just fine.

I'm open to being corrected; this is my understanding of it.

For saving, File>Save as>Wearables preset will give the equivalent of a smart prop.

For moving a prop to a bone if it didn't load parented there is a Snap Parent script (which requires you to have a prop and a bone selected) in Scripts>Utilities, or you can turn "Parent in Place" off in the Change Parent dialogue or the Scene pane option menu.

That 'Parent in Place' is so useful and I switch it on and off so often that I put it in my 'Scripts' menu (haven't set up my own menu in the beta).
