Moving DAZ Content but How?

Hi,

my hard drive is almost full, so I want to move my DAZ content and programs to an external hard drive, but my DIM crashes immediately, what should I do or how can I move my DAZ data. I am thankful for any help.

    First, I would update DIM and see if that fixes your crashes.  There are various tutorials about moving your conent after that.

    Thanks very much, I managed to install the DIM and it didn't crash. I searched for Mac tutorial but couldn't find it. I think I have to search a long time or a friendly DAZ expert will help me where and how. thank you again.

    Having done this a few times,  what I did was

    1. Copy the content folders to the new drive (i run my content from external drives); I have two: My 3D Library which is the official one that DIM points to and Daz library where I manually install 3rd party stuff
    2. I then tell Daz Studio where the libraries are and what they contain (a library with have a data folder, content like poses, figures, props etc and a runtime) in the Content Manager in the the Preferences > Content Manager.  Note that you must point Daz sTudio to each library for Daz content such as 3dl and iray and tell it where the Poser-like content is in the runtime.  No nested folders!
    3. Next I open DIM (Daz Installation Manager) and click on the gear and the Applications Tab to tell DIM where to install to:  My 3D Library
    4. I then test the move by opening Daz Studio and seeing if my content is where it should be.
    5. If it works, I do the Content Database Maintanence in the Preferences of DAZ Studio... use the new location for a few days and then delete the old content folders leaving the new ones in the new location in place.  
    6. If you search the web for "daz studio moving content mac",  you will find endless tutorials, videos etc of the process.

    Thank you so much for putting in so much effort and writing in such detail with attachments. I'll do what you wrote as soon as I have time. If it doesn't work, it means I'm not a DAZ expert yet. I will also look at the tutorials, but I believe that your description is correct and it is enough.
