Sliders missing
I don't know the actual name, but the sliders that let me adjust and pose are missing. I can't turn heads, open or close eyes or mouths, etc etc. I can click on body parts, such as upper arm, and get bend and front/back but no twist, lower arm only gives me bend, and so on. Any ideas what is happening?
For context, I just moved my assets from one drive to another, following very helpful instructions from someone here in the forums. Everything is working great, just a bunch of sliders are plain gone.
Also, the yellow loading bar at the bottom of studio is in constant motion, which it shouldn't be since I just have my scene open and I'm not doing anything with it, I've been researching missing sliders for fifteen minutes haha.

P.S. Also just realized that, while poses are working, expressions are not. I have tested my custom characters, asset characters, and default gen 8. Poses work, expressions don't, morphs (weight height etc) work on everything except my custom characters.

Alright, let's see if I can remember how to do screenshots.
As can be seen on the actual character on the right, poses (at least the ones I've tested) are working fine. And the MPE expression pack is also seeming to work. But as can be seen on the default gen 8 on the left, I have a Get Real expression applied %100 and there is no change. The MPE expressions all work, and one or two of the Get Real. All other packs and the rest of the Get Real don't work.
There is no option to twist the left shoulder, and other body parts suffer missing controls as well, such as the neck missing all controls when before it would give me bend, side to side, twist etc. And eyes have many shaping options and no open or close, cross or uncross. This all makes it basically impossible to to make fine adjustments the way I'm used to doing it, which is click the body part, move the slider, or search the body part and move the slider.
Final disclaimer, before I moved everything to a new drive it all worked just fine. Everything claims to be installed properly.

Well, it looks as if all of the clone and pose cotnrols are missing. I can't see any obvious reason for this - you have the right options checked in the pane, you are using the Universal tool so there should be no question of a tool changing the behaviour. Is the Sorcha character Geenssi 8 or 8.1? Is Genesis 8.1 Female Base working? One thing to check, if you can, is that the content directories are listed in the same order on both old and new systems.
She's a gen 8. I have gen 8.1 basic pack and some characters it must have come with (I.e. "character name for gen 8 and 8.1"), but I've never used it because all my assets are for gen 8.
I'm at work now until somewhere between midnight and 2am my time, but when I get home I'll see if a gen 8.1 has the controls or not. It's an odd issue indeed and I can't find a reason why.
I did notice that when I load studio, the small changes I make to the layout revert to default. Before, it always opened onto Scene, Parameters and smart content, now it always opens onto Art Viewport, Products and I think the surfaces tab. Never used to do that, it opened the way I left it.
I can't check the content order because this is the same PC just a different drive. I was dumb and had the assets on my boot drive, which ran out of room. I have moved them to the new drive and, naturally, deleted them from the old drive so my PC works again.
The layout issue is a known bug - see My workspace resets every time I reopen Daz. - Daz 3D Forums (though you don't need to manually create files, there is a script to a post linked from the discussion that will do the job).
Ah okay thanks. The workspace is the least of my concerns at the moment, just thought it was odd. I'm going to test 8.1 as mentioned, however I also will try out the other methods of posing, such as the one that puts all the dots on the nodes and I always forget what it's called. I've been meaning to learn it anyway, may as well see if it functions.
you are not seeing the pose sliders as you are not looking in the right place, Expand the Genesis 8 Female under the Parameters Pane and scroll down until you see the heading Pose Controls & Expand that to see each of the body parts & their sliders/controls
Ok, so 8.1 has nothing. No options at all, probably because I don't have any assets for it whatseover. It makes an 8.1 model, it looks exactly like the 8 model, no pose controls.
In reply to Platnumk, Pose Controls are grayed out and there is nothing there except my expressions packs, and they, as mentioned above, don't work.
I tested PowerPose, and learned something about the problem. If you look in my Scene tab, youll see that there are bones for left shoulder bend, a separate one for twist, and on down the line. So my controls aren't missing, they somehow got separated. And honestly, I can live with that.
Now I just need to figure out why my expressions packs aren't working. Even with Powerpose, no options to open or close eyes or mouth or adjust the fine details as there are very very few nodes on the face.
I can only conclude that all of my issues stem from something either not having installed correctly or overwriting something else. Any advice on how to troubleshoot assets to see what might be misbehaving, or will I have to uninstall everything and start one by one? Or is the issue deeper than that? I would think opening and closing eyes and mouths would be fundamental to Daz, which is why the fact they are missing is so weird.
Gen 8 always had the bones seperated like that, but the shoulder bend bone still has a slider for twist.
One thing I'd check is whether or not the missings sliders were somehow hidden. Bring up the little drop down menu just over the parameters tab, hover over preferences and select show hidden properties. See if the missing sliders show up as hidden.
Have you tried loading the Base G8F into a new blank scene, Does the problem still then exists?
Yes, these ar the clone (not sure that's quite the right term) proeprties that I mentioned earlier - the Twist bone's Twist appears on the e bend bone and the bend bone's bend appear on twist, with the inactive local equivalents hidden. Showing hidden would show the properties that are not to be used, it seems that something is blocking the clone properties from showing on the other bones. The same applies for the pose controls - many of those are cloned so they appear, and can be set on, both the figure none and an appropriate bone node.
I'll have to try the hidden sliders thing, worth a shot at least.
I'm only using base Gen 8 to test so I don't have to wait for my custom characters to load. The issues are identical no matter who I load in.
Back at work and I won't be back to my PC until Monday night (ick). Thanks for all the help and advice, I'll try out the hidden sliders and I'll keep researching that and my expressions problems. I'll post a result here but I don't expect anyone to stick around that long. At this point I'm more concerned about not being able to open and close eyes and mouth (or do much of anything at all with the face in general) and not having working expression packs. I'll likely concentrate my research on that next week.
