is my system capable of creating Daz characters through Blender?
Is my system capable of creating Daz characters? I am a keen hobbyist with this and have been perfecting my Blender skills lately to create good G3G8 characters for Daz. I'm hoping to hear from Daz staff who may know more on this specifically but below is my specs:
Processor: AMD FX(tm)-4350vQuad-Core Processor GHz
Installed RAM: 16.0 GB
System type: 16-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Windows 10
I know the ram being only 16GB is an instant issue and believe me I'm getting more on my next payday. I get advice from people about this who sometimes say my system is not capable of doing this at all then some others say I CAN do it but it would be slow?! I'm honestly confused. The real question is what would I NEED (not recommended) software/hardware wise to be able to create Daz characters through Blender for Daz? what would be the outcome if I went ahead attemnpting to properly render/create characters now with these specs? is it a case of my system simply crashing? or it would be so slow it would take forever? I'm really lose when it comes to this type of thing so needed some clarity. What is the most important thing for a system to have for this task?
Thx!

Blender can run on some pretty low end computers, only rendering options are limited so it shouldn't make any difference, rather your sculpting skills determine what you can do, you can only work with the base resolution mesh anyway until you are a PA.
Your PC could be enought or insufficient due what you want to do:
- Do you want to create a morph ? The PC is ok because a morph works on a G8 base shape resolution.
- Do you want to create an HD morph ? The PC could not be sufficient because maybe you are creating a morph with 8 subdivisions
- Are you creating skin texture ? The answer depends due the texture resolution you are making
- Are you going to create a clothing ? If you use Marvelous Designer it's better to have a powerfull pc to create high details on dress. If you create low detail dress with other 3D softwares, your PC is ok
- Are you going to make material presets ? You need a good graphic card (Nvidia possibly) because you need quick renders with Iray.
I am confused, what do you mean exactly by "create Daz characters through Blender for Daz"? and for what purpose?
The biggest issue I see is just using DS and rendering with that system. What video card do you have?
Generally, rendering is the resource hog... modeling, not so much.
Of course if you are making a polygon intensive model, then yeah, that's more of an issue... stuff like those million-billion poly Z-brush sculpts you see in CGI mags or at ArtStation... the ones where you wonder for a moment if it's a photo of a real person until you look at the hair.
It's a tool.
If you are capable, so will it be capable.
... Having said that, better specs would be a better experience and allow for a more enjoyable time - especially rendering; although on that spec, I wouldn't render in Studio, but would stick to Blender.
K sorry for the late reply here. To answer all your questions:

I want to modify the G3/G8 base characters in Blender with the whole works I mean skin textures/morphs everything FOR my Daz. My video card: NVIDIA Gforce GTX 1060 6GB
"although on that spec, I wouldn't render in Studio, but would stick to Blender."
what do you recommend for Daz please for what I want to do.
Still not to clear on your workflow. So you want to send the base genesis 8 figures to Blender to morph them and create new skin textures, etc and then back to Daz Studio to render? If so, then the Blender part should be fine, but with your system specs, you might be better off rendering in blender
K basically everything done here: https://www.daz3d.com/how-to-create-a-new-custom-daz-studio-character
Ah, gotcha now. The title is confusing because you are technically creating morphs for a new character and not a new figure. techincally if you can run DS, then you should be able to do what is in the tutorial. Rendering is a whole other story though
Yes I did mess up the title. Could you tell me in what way rendering is another story? you mean I can't or?!
