Why this version soft?

Hi :)

I am develloper too, but I not understand this numerotation on DAZ....

Good numeration is 4.01, 4.02, and after 4.10....

DAZ use 4.8,4.9, and after 4.10.

No logical, you need to use 2 number, all soft in worls works as this, 4.01, 4.09, and after 4.10.

Three, since there have been versions where the build number hits the hundreds. It is a standard format - major.minor.revision.build - and leading zeroes are not universal, to say the least. Quoting only the first two numbers does seem odd for a developer asking a question about numbering.

Hate to break it to you op, but there is no universal numbering scheme used in software, there is just what the company developing decides to use.

Daz has chosen a simple integer system as opposed to a rational number system, that's it.

Personally, i can't recall the last time i actually saw rational numbers being used in versioning, but that's just my experience. Anybody is more than welcome to provide me with some examples.

  • And to add to that, unless the developers are UNIX purists, the version number is completely arbitrary anyway.
