Why do some Daz content png not show up in the interface?

I've had this happen from DS3 to Ds4.7 ... I see nothing to load under the file name, but if I 'browse to folder location', as see the folder is filled with pngs and ascii files.

Does this mean something didn't install right?

...have seen this myself as well, including with content installed through the DIM.

In which folders? The ... Formats list, Products, or Categories in the Content Library or in Smart Content? if it's in ... Formats, are the files the right format - Poser files under Poser Formats, DAZ Studio files under DAZ Studio Formats?

..for me in both in the Content/Daz Studio and Content/Poser Formats lists (don't use Smart Content as it takes up too much screen real estate)

In this instance ... it's a couple things under my poser content 'figures' folder. But I know I've had a couple other items in my poser 'props' folder, too. And when I find one, I usually redownload it, but this time, I don't know where I bought it from to do another download and I can't what the items are to help remind me.

I don't use the smart content tab, either, for the same reason.

Just ran into another one ...

Poser content tab ... under figures ... nothing visible in Daz ... but when I browse to folder location, both png visuals and ascii files.

    How do I remedy this?

What type of "ASCII" file, and where are they?

I'm in the poser content tab, under figures. I have several, when I try to see what's in the folder, show nothing in Daz, like it's an empty folder, but if I browse to folder location, the folder is full of stuff, including assci file, png files sized to be thumbnails I should be seeing in Daz, and sometimes, obj files. Other times, I am only seeing obj files and nothing else.

It's like I'm randomly losing stuff or it's being misfiled or separated, or Daz simply doesn't like it and won't show it to me, lol.

Can you list some of the files and the full path to the folder?

There are several and I find them while scrolling through during projects. I have too much stuff to sift through it right now, but the items are in the same content formation as the items that do show up. And when I browse to folder location, the items are there, as are the png files, but they simply don't show up in Daz.

Well, I know why some of them don't on my machine...but it wouldn't be the same reason, as you use Windows, right?

On mine, some of them don't show because the names don't match. I'm on Linux, which is case sensitive, so if something is Item.duf and the icon is item.duf.png then it won't show.

Now, there is the chance that there is still a naming problem...if it's missing the .duf(dsf, ds, dsa, whatever) between the item name and png it may not show; not 100% of the time, because that is also OS/version of OS dependent to some degree.

    Yes .. windows.

So even stuff bought through a store can be misnamed? I'm not sure if I'm savvy enough to remedy the problem, lol.

Yes...but usually it's just 'case'...and mostly folder name case. That really causes fits on a case-sensitive file system.

That shouldn't be an issue in Windows. I've on rare occasions seen files with things like leading spaces that cause problems, but if you're seeing it frequently something else is going on. I think we need a screenshot of a folder with some items that show and some that don't to figure out what's going on.

    Yep.

Although, with certain security software, it can cause fits with item.duf.png type names...but if that were the case, it would probably be for all of them.

Just ran into another one ... her is the file structure:

    C:\3D Stuff - C Drive\Runtime\Libraries\Character\Spy Glass

Browsing to file I find the attached screenshot.

Can you do a list with file extensions showing? Which items are appearing in the library and which aren't?

None show up in Daz (I'm in the poser content tab).

None of those are Poser formats -- the only file types that show up in Poser formats are .cr2, .cm2, .fc2, .hd2, .hr2, .lt2, .pz2, .pp2, .mc6, and .pz3

I didn't mess with it, just installed it as I found it. How do I remedy? Or is it not possible?

You can list it under "Other Formats" and it will show up there.

    How do I do that?

In the Content Library pane, right-click on "Other Formats > Add Base Directory".

    And then?

Add the folder with the .obj files, then they'll show up under Other Formats.

That's correct, you now see the .obj files.
