DAZ Studio Content Location

Hi all,

I know this topic has been asked and answered before, but I just can't find the correct thread. So, if someone could please point me to the thread or answer my question it will be greatly appreciated.

My DAZ Studio content in "/Users/Shared/My DAZ 3D Library" is getting way to large to continue storing on my 500 Gb internal HDD and I would like to move it all to an external 4Tb hard drive.

Apart from the copying process and re-pathing using "Content Directory Manager" in DS, do I have to change the location to the default path in DAZ Install Manager"? I just can't remember.....

And is there anything else I need to do?

    If you are using DIM (DAZ Install Manager), yes, you definitely need to change the install location that is uses, otherwise it will continue to install content where it always has installed to.

    Inside DIM, go to the Gear icon at the top right of the UI, and then select the Installation tab. At the bottom left of that tab, just above Show Log, there is a large '+' sign, click on it, and add the new path for DIM to install content to. Any time after that, when you are downloading content using DIM, make sure that the correct library is selected by ticking the 'Show Details' box in the 'Ready to Download' tab.

    And is there anything else I need to do?


    All of the DIM stuff is located in C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager, including the downloads if you keep them, and the Manifest files which DIM uses so that it knows what it has already downloaded and installed. It would probably be best to leave that where it is if you can.

    I have never moved the DIM folder, so I will let someone else explain that to you if it is necessary.

    Don't forget as well as the content installation path, there's also the content installer storage path — unless you tell it to delete them after installation, DIM will cheerfully continue filling up your drive with the downloaded installers.

    hmmmmmm,,,,if I manually copy current DS contents directory,, and move to another HD

    there is "content updates" option, in DIM Setings,,

    A Install to "respective install path",
    B another is install to "selected path"

    I understand,, where DIM install new up-date contents, about both case,,(maybe,,)
    but to delete installed contents from NEW contents directory of another HD , how it work?

    DIM can serch contents from new HD (manually copy and pasted) (she is so smart!)
    then can delete it ?

    About downloaded contents, Must I need to manually delete them,, without it
    we may get doble contents in both HD?:roll:
