Selecting things in 4.8

Okay, this is making me nuts and I'm not sure if I can turn it off or not, or if I'm missing something obvious. In DS 4.8, when I'm using the arrow cursor (Node Selection Tool) and I hover over something that's conformed to a figure, the item turns blue -- but the text over the cursor shows the body part the item is conformed to. And so, when I click on the "blue" thing, DS selects the figure it's conformed to, NOT the item I'm clicking on. Tell me there's a way to work around this. I'd like to click on a garment and actually select the GARMENT and not G2F.
Help?

Thats how its always been to me.
My workaround is using the Mat Tool shortcut, to select object then Ill switch back to whatever tool I was using. Master the art of shortcutting my friend.
this may be completely unrelated to what youre trying to do, but another problem I had with selecting conformed figures, was loading items from Windows Explorer...
what worked for me was selecting the item in Daz, and then dragging the item from Explorer to a blank space on the viewport.
Just thought I would put that out there
LOL!! This is also what I've been doing!! Great minds think alike!
I just discovered that you can right-click and select the clothing with the arrow cursor. Still a little annoying, but at least it saves me from having to swap tools.
For the record, I really wish there was a way you could customize the selection behavior when you load something into your scene. In Poser, any item you load is automatically selected when it comes into the scene. This would be HUGELY helpful in DS, because you don't have to flop over to the "pose" folder to change textures -- usually the materials for a garment are right in the same folder. Instead of just clicking to load an item and then immediately clicking to add a new material, you have to go into your scene and select what you just loaded before you can do anything to it. I realize this is a personal preference, but I feel like it shouldn't be that hard to add an option that allows you to change the selection behavior for new items. It makes me crazy. (Okay, craziER.)
See if you can change the behavior in window > panes > draw settings. I'm not at my PC to look.
