Everything with an opacity appears black

I been trying to solve this on my own but I can't seem to figure this out.

Anything see though has all these black patches where the opacity map is.

    Do they appear black in the rendered image, too?

    No, just in the scene preview

    Layered opacities always give problems for the preview. You might check the setting for Edit>Preferences>Interface tab>Backface Lighting to see if that avoids the black areas, but it won't be an accurate impression of the render whatever you do.
