At this point DAZ is just unusable.

It seems that DAZ Install Manager and DAZ are out-of sync.

SYMPTOM:

Smart Content shows content, but clicking it yields "Could not find file".

The content was installed from DAZ Install Manager.

WORKAROUND:

If I find an object that does this, I must right-click it in DAZ, (either the object or the package it was in, I'm not sure), UNINSTALL it, and REINSTALL.

I have found that install manager is putting stuff into C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\Runtime\  And DAZ is installing to C:\Users\BryanValencia\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Daz Connect Library\data\cloud\1_2866\runtime\.

What am I doing wrong? I have many products that behave this way.  Is there some way to sync DAZ and DIM?  Or should I give up on DIM altogether?

Yes, DIM and DAZ Studio can be synchronized. If you want to use one installation method, stick with DIM.

First, pick a destination to use for the installation, for now stick with the one used by DIM, or, maybe consider an external drive to handle your ever-expanding catalog.

Uninstall everything that you installed from Studio. That is, anything in My DAZ Connect Library. This is installing the product a second time, and overrides anything installed with DIM. (Barbult should be along any second, now). Log out from your DAZ account, and set the options to not log in automatically, and remove your credentials, since that is only needed for Connect.

Now, configure DAZ Studio to use the same folder as DIM uses to install the content. From the Content Library tab-pane, right-click on the tab and select "Content Directory Management..." This will open a dialog where you can set the folder paths for your Library (aka Mapped Folders). Expand the Current Directories, if not already so. Expand the DAZ Studio Formats branch, and you will see a few folders underneath. Now you can add/edit/remove the folders used. (Don't touch the CMS Cluster Directory). One folder should be where DIM installs the content. You can keep the others if you want (I keep one or two for testing). You can leave the Connect path, but if you never plan to use it, you can remove it. It can always be added again. Do the same for Poser Formats, if you have any older products.

Accept, and give Studio a second or two to refresh and you should see your DIM-installed content in the Content Library -> DAZ Studio Formats (and Poser Formats, if used).
