Commission Question

I make comics that I sometimes sell on Deviantart, and sometimes make free of charge. When I sell them I charge $5. My comics are typically 150-200 frames, and take 2-3 weeks to make. I've been approached by someone who wants to commission a comic. He has agreed to let me sell what I make on deviantart after its done. I have no idea what I should be charging for something like this. Do I charge an hourly rate? I've never done a commission before.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

You might be better off asking someone else on deviantArt who has made comics similar to what you're doing. 3D artists and many professionals like to charge by the hour, but comics are usually per-page. I know traditional comic artists who consider affordable rates anywhere from $50-$100 per page for drawn art, inking, and sometimes colors too (that's rare though). I've seen 3D commissions range from $5 an image to well over $100, but $10-$25 seems to be fairly common for a moderately simple non-comic render. It depends on the complexity of the art, how much of a rush the client is in, and other factors, but seeing what others charge and adjusting that rate for your and your client's needs is a good start.
Maybe consider some kind of contract or works. Things like this can go downhill pretty quick if there is disparity between the parties concept of what included in the work.
Make considerations for changes and rate of payments. And include ownership of the finished comic and the working pieces.
Consider working for a week on 5 pages and then the client say I don't like them can you redo them, what happens at this point?
