Modify the measure names in the Measure Metrics file

Hi everyone,

I have installed Measure Metrics for DAZ Studio and it works perfectly.

I want to translate the measure names in another language (see screenshot), so I opened with the notepad the file "Measure Genesis 8 Female - Basic.duf" which is in People folder.

I tried to translate ("label": "04. Low Hip Circumference") which corresponds to the 1st line of the screenshot but it doesn't work.

Do you have any idea which line to modify to translate these 4 lines in the screenshot?

Thanks

I just click on the node in the Scene pane, click again, and adjust the name - the result shows in the Figure Metrics dialogue. I'm not sure why you are doing this, but it would not be allowed to share the file with someone else (without obtaining prior permission from the author, via a support ticket).

Ok thanks a lot, I'm doing this because I don't know the English language (I use a translator)

I tried but when I close Daz studio everything goes back to the way it was before.

You would need to save a new Wearable preset (File>Save as>Wearables preset) for the renamed measures, and use that to load them instead of the original (don't overwrite the original as your work will be lost if there is a product update).

    Thank you very much,
    I have another question:
With Measure Metrics, it measures the height of the figure (head to toe) but I have to hide the head and legs of the figure.

I have lowered the figure (torso without head and legs) to the ground level but Measure Metrics takes into account the head and legs that are hidden.

How do I measure the height of the torso?

You would need to either adjust the measure itself, or add a new one (which wiould not, of coruse, be picked up by Figure Metrics).

    Ok thanks,

Do you know why the names of the measures are not in order like on the product picture?
    https://www.daz3d.com/measure-metrics-for-daz-studio

Photo 1 is the one of the Daz product (numerical order 01,02,03,04,05,06 ect)
    Photo 2 is mine

Sorry, I was wrong about an additional measure not appearing in Figure Metrics - see http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/plugins/measure_metrics/start

I noticed the ordering was not alpha-numeric - the documents at the above link say that the order follows that in the Measure Metrics pane

Thanks, I had read this before and re-read it, but I couldn't find anything that said it follows the order of the "Measuring Metrics" section.

It's near the end of Step 1 here http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/plugins/measure_metrics/using_the_figure_metrics_script/start

Thank you very much, to be honest I did not read this document because I could not find it.

When you say that I have to "add a new measure" do you mean that I have to create a new metric measure?

Yes, because tyou want to set new start and end points - though as I said, you could edit the existing measure for that figure too.

Create>New Measure metric, a Tape Measure presumably. See the documentation above for the details.

Hi, I want to modify my character by applying Morph but I will do it over several days.

In order not to lose the modifications of my character, what do you advise me to save my work (save scene or others)?

    Thanks

To be safe I'd save both a Scene Subset and Shape or Character presets.

File>Save As should have all the types.

Hi and thanks but I can't find File>Save>Scene Subset and Shape

I can only find File>Save>Scene Subset

What is the difference between :
    File>Save>Scene Subset
    and
    File>Save>Scene

I was saying do both a Scene Subset and a Shaping Preset, as insurance.

A Scene Subset differs from a Scene is several ways:

Scene Subsets do not get added to the recent files list

By default Scene Subsets are merged into (added to) the current scene, leaving its name unchanged, while a Scene is loaded isntead of the current scene (the right-click menu offers the choice to treat each in the opposite manner)

A Scene Subset allows you to choose which elements to include, while a Scene automatically includes everything.

Thanks a lot, sorry I misunderstood.

I have another question if you allow me...
I want to hide these 3 properties (see picture) which are under "Actor/Head", so I did Hidden>Hide Selected Proprieties... but what to do to save it?

    Thanks

Edits like that will save only with a Scene, Scene Subset, or a Character preset used to load a new figure (rather than modifying a figure already loaded into the scene). If you want to make the change permanent for all instances of the figure and its characters you can of course resave the mirphs, most simply by working on the Dev Load version of the figure (if it's a Genesis 8) and using File>Save As>Suport Assets>Save Modified Assets - but note this will not work if you isntalled through Connect (Daz Studio Install or content panes) and that it will be overwritten by any update to the product containing those files.
