Poses always save expressions, no matter what?

I'm trying to save a pose file of g8f. If her mouth is open, when I save the file and uncheck everything related to the mouth or head, the pose will still save that open mouth, or vice-versa. Poser has an option to include those morphs or not. I tried saving a pose file by unchecking everything then checking the pose translations and rotations dials only. That works, except the face expression is still included. Am I missing something?

How was the expression applied?
Using the shaping tools Click on head, slide the Mouth Open slider. I can have all these set to '0', but if I have a characters face posed and want to apply my saved pose, the face sliders will all set to '0' if thats what they were when I saved the pose.
Ah, so the problem is that it is zeroing. In that case, though it may have other drawbacks, there is an option in the menu for the options dialogue (the lined button part-way down on the right) to include only non-zero values. I am not sure what you mean by the shaping tools, though.
I'm sorry, I should have said posing tool rather than shaping, see attached image. (please be sensitive that I am new to DS, not an experienced user. I am coming straight out of 20+ years of Poser and still use the poser speak) So, when I use the word expression, which might mean something else in DS, I mean her face with any head sliders applied such as 'Mouth Open" or Eyebrows Up or some such.
The problem is that when I save a pose, all the options of the face sliders are saved. If they are at zero, it saves as zero. If one or more is set at anything else, it is also saved at the new setting.
Here is an example scenario:
I create a left arm waving pose, and I create a right arm waving pose.
I import g8f into my scene.
I set up an open mouth smile on her face using the posing tool that shows all the sliders.
Now I go and apply the left arm waving pose I created. Suddenly, her open mouth smile is gone and replaced by the expression (or set of sliders) that was on her face (or lack of) when I created the arm waving pose.
This is not the desired affect I want. I want her face to remain the same, but just her arm waving. It is at this point that I have tried every option in the save-as/pose preset command to just include transforms such as rotation, scale, translation, but no matter what, the mouth open or any other slider on the face still is included. If my g8f's face is all set to zero on the posing (no open mouth, etc) and I add the arm waving pose, the expression (if there was one when I created the pose in the first place) will now be applied to my zeroed face.
In short, i want to create a pose preset with absolutely no face sliders included. I can't seem to figure it out.
Ugh... okay, I figured it out when I realized what you meant by lined buttom part way down.
I appreciate your help Richard! I'm a noob.

And if it is just a pose (no pose controls from the figure, for example) then it should work to uncheck all, then work you way down the hierarchy in that option dialogue to the first relevant bone (collar, probably) and check that to select on down the hierarchy - or is that what you were doing and finding didn't work? The disadvantage of skipping the zeroed properties entirely is course that you may end up with unwanted remnants of the previous pose.
Another option, for your own use at least, is to select the collar bone (or whatever) then hold down the cmd(Mac)/ctrl(Win) key as you double-click the preset - that will get you an option dialogue, if you set the Node to select and Propagation to recursive it will leave all the other bones alone - doing that you could save a pose for both arms, and just apply the half you wanted. But of course that isn't really an option for commercial sets.
Hi Richard,
I have another question regarding poses if I may...
I have an articulated figure I rigged in Poser. I am converting it over to DS format. I've noticed that when I try to mirror poses (symmetry command) in DS, all the rotations mirror fine, but the morphs do not. I have an actual morph for changing the lengths of some items but those do not mirror. Is this normal in DS?
Yes, the symmertry command works on transforms only - a custom script could be written to handle morphs.
Yikes, that's way out of my territory, anything already out there that you know of that does that?
Noth that immediately comes to mind, though you could check casual's vast catalogue of free scripts (use the link from any of his threads in the Freebies forum).
