Hi -- a quick question. What is the name of the product that lets you use a background image then bring in a primitive (cube, cylinder, plane, etc.) to capture part of the background as well a shadows etc. -- say your backdrop is a photo of the a Greek ruin and you want to bring in a cylinder to capture a column so you can put a figure partially behind it? Who makes it? Thank you.

I think you're talking about Iray HDRI Toolkit.
https://www.daz3d.com/iray-hdri-toolkit has shadow catchers
your library -scripts -utilities create Advanced iray node properties
apply to primitive
in parameters choose mat
You can do the basics with the matte property on a primitive, or any object, I guess. Use the "Create Advanced Iray Node Properties" script on the object to add the property, and set it to On and it will go transparent and hide what's behind, and catch shadows if they fall across it. I suppose the other functions, like reflectivity, could be done, but I have never tried it.
(I notice that I have to toggle the object's visibility to get it to actually go transparent, otherwise it remains visible. I don't know what else would trigger it. I don't recall it doing that in earlier versions, it would activate right away, IIRC.)
If on the slim chance you're looking for the much older, 3DL plug-in, there's still:

Thank you all!! Really apreciate it! PWCatch was the older tool that did similar things, but the Iray HDRI toolkit was what I was looking for. Thanks again!
