Cannot find Iray Uber Shaders in DS 4.8 Pro

edited December 1969 in Daz Studio Discussion

Hello, I've installed DS 4.8 Pro (4.8.0.55) and, for the life of me, I cannot use the Iray Uber Shader presets. They are not showing up anywhere in my content folders. I've searched known directories for files, searched the hard drive for files, even reset the content database. I don't know what the deal is, I've looked in the install folder directories and the MDL files for them are there. Does anyone know what might be going on? Thanks.

You might have to uninstall, and then re-download the Light & Shader defaults again from the Product page. It seems that they weren't marked for 4.8 in DIM

I came here to post the exact same problem, only to find you'd beaten me to it. I have searched high and low, with no luck. The MDL files are present, but the Iray shader presets are not.

Edit: And while I was typing that, the reply came in. I will have a look; thanks! :)

Thanks for the reply. I tried this and it's still not showing up. Very weird. :(

I had the same (unsuccessful) result. Looking at the package files in DIM, I don't think the new presets are actually in here, unless I'm overlooking something.

No, the Iray lights and Shaders are not there yet, you need to grab them from the beta, or wait for them...

    DAZ Vince just posted:

The public beta shaders and lights package is available (for the public beta) but we had a minor setback on releasing the final package for the release version of 4.8. You should see a Lights and shaders package become available by tomorrow along with updated interactive lessons. Sorry for the wait!

Nothing yet on the lights and shaders huh?

Just checking. I wanna play with it a bit before I buy the Iray vendor products already in my Cart :-)

While you wait, you can use the Public Beta content package.

I've looked for the Public Beta content package and I can't find it. On DIM or otherwise.

You have to go into the Downloads section of DIM, check "Public Build", and hit Accept. It should show up then. The package you are looking for is titled, "Public Beta Iray Support Content".

Already did all that and also had hidden files checked off. Still not showing up. Guess it doesn't like me, lol.

  • Please someone help me with this issue!!! I'm trying everything above to the best of my knowledge. Is it because I'm a Mac user? It's equivalent to sexual frustration! LOL!

Are you saying that you cannot find the 'Default Lights and Shaders for DAZ Studio' in your Product Library?    Go to the Filter box at the top, and type in 'DAZ Studio 4.8 Pro' (wiithout the quotes), and it will be listed there.   There is only a Mac version for program itself, content is for either PC or Mac.
