Iray default shadows

Is there a way to move the position of the default Iray shadows? even with figures standing on the ground plane, they seem to offset so the figures appear to float?

Check that the figures are truly on the ground. Edit, object, move to ground ;-)

Many poses do require a little tweaking to get paws or toes actually on the ground too.

  • Yes I've tried that even using a ground plane to make sure her feet were on the floor but the shadows move down too? I had her ankles through the floor but she was still floating. There's obviously something I'm not doing to get the figure to join with the shadow.

The most likely is that it is your figure that is floating above the ground plane. I have already noticed that "Move to ground" may have some problems. Use "Bottom view" and either reduce "Y translate" of your fig our increase this parameter for the ground plane until you start to see the feet traverse the ground plane.

Change the ground position mode from Auto to Manual. in Auto mode it is set for the bounding box in Manual mode you can lower the figure to the ground and the bounding box goes below the ground.

  • Thanks for your answers I'll try those ideas out. :)

Yes, it looks as if the tail and back paws of the cat are lower than other parts and are therefore determining the position of the ground.
