Excluding the glorious dawn of the universal happiness and ecstasy that is iRay, does anyone know what, if anything, has been broken in 4.8 for existing projects that continue to use 3Delight?
In other words, if I have an existing scene that I developed in 4.7, will it load into 4.8 and render (in 3Delight) as it did in the previous version, without requiring me to spend hours fixing things?
Chances are that you'll find it will render faster...
There have been several improvements/speed tweaks to 3DL between the build in 4.7 and the build included in 4.8. I've not run into any problems so far.

You can also find information on IRAY here. We've listed various threads and pages of interest in the interest of keeping information in a few places rather than having dozens of threads to have to search through.

Thanks for the link. I'll read through them, but my primary concern is maintaining compatibility with work already in progress. If there is a speed-up in 3Delight that would obviously be nice, but not if anything (shaders, lights etc) has been broken by the upgrade and would therefore require me to spend time and effort adapting to those breakages.
For me, iRay comes later - a couple of releases down the line, when the inevitable bugs and unforeseen side effects have been ironed out, and I can afford to spend the time converting every single surface on every single object in my entire content library so that they can actually be rendered!!!!!!
Whenever you decide to upgrade, as discussed in another thread, take a copy of the zip file needed to install 4.7. That way if 4.8 does cause you serious issues, you can always uninstall, and then reinstall 4.7.

@acanthis: 4.8 3delight is visibly faster than 4.7 one; I would have upgraded even just for that.
