9mbi bullfrog

Was just wondering if anyone knows where I can find it? I heard it was a freebie, but I can't find it free or pay.. Be happy to pay for it, but can't seem to locate it anywhere.
Not looking for a free copy of it at all if its a pay model, I just heard it was free at one point.

It probably was on the 9mbi site, which has been down for quite some time now.
Greetings,
9mbi is one of my favorite stories; I don't know the details, but I do know the server is still running in a closet somewhere. Still spinning ads, picking discounts, and completely functional except for the ability to buy stuff from it... (Because PayPal tries to reach out to 9mbi.com to notify it that a payment was received, but it never reaches their server.)
I found the IP address, made my computer think 9mbi.com went to that address, and browsed to it. There it was, fully operational. Still letting me download my old purchases, and offering new ones...
They lost the domain years ago, at this point, but the server was never told to stop working... :) There's something techno-wistful about a forgotten server, tucked away somewhere, picking an item to discount every couple of hours, offering benefits to buy items, completely operational...but completely out of contact with actual users.
If I can hunt it down again, I'll see if they have a freebies section still operating...

I did exactly the same thing... and yeah, the site still works even now. The bullfrog is not a freebie, priced at $9 and "sale price" at $2.99.
One can wonder what would happen if someone bought the domain name after it expires and set it to point to their server.
Nothing would happen since you do not own the webspace where the scripts run on...
Why would I need to own it? Currently if you access their site, it works but you cannot buy anything because paypal cannot connect to them with the transaction result. Assuming the owner of the domain set the ip address back to their server, the payments should start working again, on "autopilot", again assuming their pay-pal account wasn't blocked. Whatever, doesn't matter and it's just a silly speculation.
Greetings,
Actually, that's not true. If I bought 9mbi.com (four character domain name, NOT happening), and pointed its DNS back to the actual site, EVERYTHING would work again. It doesn't matter that I don't have access to the scripts, Paypal would be able to reach 9mbi.com and deliver IPN (Instant Payment Notifications) again, and everyone out there would be able to buy and pay for 3D items on the still-running store.
I wouldn't make any money, of course, but the site would be fully functional, in all ways, again.

[Edit: Ninja'ed! Yep...all of what they said...]
Thanks for all the responses.. its a tough model to track down :)
I was thinking of re-downloading a couple of old purchases and tried that using the IP address I found. But I got 'Unable to connect' in IE and 'Webpage not available' in Chrome
Oh well, nothing lasts forever.
Greetings,
It's a little more complex than just going to the IP address; you need to point the hostname to it usually via /etc/hosts, and then you need to go to /home.php on that server, IIRC. You have to do all the pieces right, or it seems like it's not there.-- Morgan
