In the new 4.8 version of studio I am unable to locate the preview render. I find the preview render a massive time saver in animations because it enables me to quickly render a scene and view it in my movie editor and see if the motions are right before spending hours/days rendering the final version of the scene.

Do you mean the Aux Viewport - Window>Pnaes(Tabs)>Aux Viewport? Remember that the IPR is a 3Delight feature - if you want an Iray preview click the little sphere icon next to the camera/view picker and select the Iray draw style.

No, in the older versions rather than 3delight it had an option for a preview render. It really wasn't anything more than a snapshot of the unrendered picture but in an image series you could watch the sequence in your video editor to get a good idea of how your motions play out before spending hours rendering a scene only to realize you are not happy with the motions. It seems that in the effort to achieve higher quality renders the program has overlooked the value of its lowest render setting.

In previous versions the preview render was located in the section where you choose the render engine.

Are you referring to Basic/Intermediate OpenGL?

Aparently, that works any way. Thanks.
