Is there any technique to make Buck's hair/fur look more like hair/fur?

Is there any technique to make Buck's hair/fur look more like hair/fur?

I did try with uhd fur builder without much success, is there a way to use it that I am missing, all I did was click a fur icon but it really didnt resemble fur or deer skin hair

thanks

That is a really old product - a three digit SKU. You could try adding strand-based hair, but there are more recent deer figuers that might be worth looking at.

I don't own him but he is ancient, likely very lowpoly

any displacement fur shader would have very little to work with

you may be able to add some strandbased hair to him or LAMH if you own it if using 3Delight

I think a newer buck would be a better choice, there are several here and elsewhere

I don't have Tane but he looks good

UHD Fur Builder needs a lot of experimentation to get decent results. Keep trying. Watch the video.

Oso Fur Shaders for Iray uses a different technique. It will also need some experimentation. There is a ReadMe.

Oso Fur looks interesting- I never saw it before, if you have used both of them which one would you say-

    1-gets better fur/hair results

2-which one of the two is easier to use

    thanks North

New developement I was loading Buck then slecting it and loading "Buck Map" but the right way is just load "Buck Map" and it doesnt look so bad, luckily I had done that in a render from a while ago that I noticed and tried it again

(when I click on the image of the bucks it opens very large but if I minimize the browser t o50% it gets back to normal size so it doesnt look all mushy like whe it is blown up double

They are equally frustrating to get realistic looking results. Not so good up close, but at a distance, not too bad. Oso Fur uses generated displacement, so it tends to look kind of spiky at lower resolutions. But, it is sometimes good to have options.
