Help with saving poses

Hello,

I have been having difficulty saving poses because once I save a pose and then try to apply it at a later time, it takes a very long time (20 or 30 minutes or more) for the pose to apply, it at all. I am using G8F and G8.1F and I will say up front that I have a lot of morphs and expression sets so I am not sure if that is impacting things. When I try to save the pose, I generally deselect the character and then go in and select the hip and general options so that all of the other items that initially show up are not saved. I can save partial poses ok by drilling down in the hip tree and they work fine but full body poses don't want to co-operate. I have tried using plug-ins like Pose Fusion Plus but I still have the same problem. I am not sure why this is happening now since it has worked for me in the past.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    When I save a pose I usually click on the little paper stack and go to" save only" all rotations .Then I expand all checked only ,if I'm not saving the expressions ,scroll down to the head, uncheck upper teeth down to right ear ,Then I check the main General transform box the y translation then save the pose .I don't usually bother with partical poses

    It happens to me too, but here's a trick to speed up applying a saved pose with lots of morphs.  Select and lock the root node of the character.  All other nodes should be unlocked.  If it works, it should take less than 10 seconds.  The only disadvantage, is that the root node transform doesn't get set.

    Seven193, thanks for the tip. It sounds very promising. However, for clarification, what do you mean by locking the root node?

    carrie58, I'll try your suggestion too.

    Thanks to both of you.

    I have tons of morphs and expressions too ,so I only use a base figure with no morphs applied ,when making my poses, cause you are always going to have to adjust poses for different figures,and situations,but that way I don't accidently add morphs or expressions to the saved poses so I can share them if I want...... and they all load instantly ......oh another thing if you use any of the pose controls ,make sure to hit Bake to transforms ,before saving ,that should help too ,that way the pose won't contain any pose control dials ......

    I lock the top node in the scene, the one with the character figure icon.

    Edit -> Object -> Lock -> Lock Selected Node(s)

    It seems to lock all the underlying morphs and expressions, which would explain why the pose is applied quickly. Usually, all I care about is the pose transform itself.  And I can always fix the root node by hand, which is way faster than waiting for minutes.

    You can also try holding down the Ctrl hotkey when applying the pose.  It might go faster if you uncheck "Morphforms".  But, I just have a habit of locking nodes down, I forget about it.

    Thanks again Seven193. I'll give this a try as well.
