Thanks, but all it contained was a .3ds file, which I have no idea where it is to go.
It's okay, as I think I found one in a free item I found over on Renderosity, completely by accident.

Ferrio67, just for your information, if you have Carrara, Carrara can pull the 3ds file in. Then you just save it as an obj file. Make a folder in your runtime:libriaries:prop directory and plop it, the obj file, and the material files into it. From DAZ you can import the obj. Save out a DAZ scene and you will have access to it from your content library.
If you don't have Carrara, then Bryce can do it for you sometimes or some people use Poseray it is free.

Hexagon can also deal with .3ds and send it to DAZ Studio too.
Assassin_21, This might work but you will have to fiddle with it. It is the squirrel tail addon to the house mouse. It is jointed so you could make you feather go any which way and you can size each of the sections. Maybe alot of work but hey it is free. Here is the link.

I don't mind a bit of fiddling. Never thought of using a squirrel's tail, though. Looks promising too. :)
I'll download this tomorrow and give it a shot. Hopefully the material breakdown is in bits similiar to the cat tail I've got.
Edit: Yes. It works just fine. Thank you Dollygirl. :D
Dollygirl, Skiriki, thanks for the advice. I'm still fairly new to DAZ and learning that program to be fiddling around with Bryce or Hexagon - haven't even opened up the zip files to install the two programs. Maybe I'll be brave enough one of these days to do just what you're advising.
I recommend to install Hexagon. Because all you need to do is open .3ds file, and then hit the "Send to DAZ Studio" from the menu and Bob's your uncle; you may need to reapply the materials there, but that's pretty easy.
Thanks, I'll probably do that this week. (Really need to get it and a few more things working so I can start work on a short series for another forum I'm on, if only to clam someone up who thinks I'm just collecting stuff.)

I just downloaded a very pretty character for V4... with no skin tone. Can anyone suggest some good free skin textures for V4? (Mediocre free skin textures are a dime a dozen.)
I already know about (and have used) the ones that come with the characters at http://rendercandy.com/index.php/cPath/25 , but for this render, I want someone lighter-skinned... A native-american or a tanned-white would be lovely.
Rob about this beauty:
http://www.sharecg.com/v/60497/browse/21/DAZ-Studio/BRUUNA-FOR-VICTORIA-4.2---PART-1/4
There are 4 parts to this package. Beto was developing it for commerical item. She is lovely and olive skinned because she is based upon Barzilian women.

Thanks, Dollygirl - that's almost exactly what I wanted! (And, for free stuff, "almost" is good enough.)
Rob have you checked if there were any on the old (archived) V4 list in the New users area. I have finished checking it out yet, been a stressful few weeks for us, but most links on that one work.
Syltermermaid's skins are quite good. You'll have to signup to artraiders to get this link properly (and then be directed to 4shared), but there's a number of skins there and the zips are on the smaller end of the scale.

I am looking for a square fingernail morph for Genesis. Also, a morph to add additional length and a slight curve to the entire nail. For Chinese stylized nails.
This kind of shape, but not this color. Just a normal color. Also these get wider toward the end, I would really like them to stay the width g the nail bed. :D
Thanks!
I'm looking for a simple business suit and tie for Genesis. It needs to be non-dynamic clothing as I cannot get dynamic clothing to work in DS. For some reason, when I select a dynamic item and open the dynamic menu in DS, I'm told I haven't selected anything. I found a suit in Renderosity, but it was dynamic.
Yeah, there's a big difference between Poser dynamic and Daz dynamic, and neither one works in the other program. Pretty much everything 'dynamic' on Renderosity and ShareCG is Poser dynamic, so those won't be much help.
Optitex's site has some free DAZ dynamics, though I am not sure if business suit is amongst them.
If you have the

then in theory you can take this suit and expansion and have your self a suit these are for Hiro3 but autofit should be able to convert them to genesis. Or at least that is what page says.

Ah ,that explains it! Thanks Thinmick. I wish I'd known that earlier, but I've never seen anything that informed me that DS and Poser dynamics were not compatible with each other, Do they expect people to just magically know this stuff?
I'll now try Optitex's site to see if there's anything there.
Talking about freebies, I found some costumes/props at renderosity for 3rd party figures called BVH33D's Angela 1.0 and Joshua 1.0, does anyone know if these can be used in DS and altered to fit Genesis? Or have I got to download the BVH3d figures?
Greetings! I am looking for some western tack for the Mil. Horse, I found Barding no problem, but no western tack. Ideally I would like free tack.
Thanks!
Amy
I'm looking for a Beret, and a face wrap/scarf that covers the lower face, that fits V4.
Well, Just like these three: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/File:Team_Plasma_B2W2_Trailer.png
For the mask there is this:
http://blog.goo.ne.jp/mamomamo_2007/e/baa559ce6ad44f4da90d6f89ccfbf511
You will have to create a transmap that hides the hood part.
For the beret
If you have the Captain's Uniform for Aiko3 the Captain's cap can be modified by hiding everything but the "enamel". then size to fit V4.

If you don't here is a similar shaped cap that might work in its place

Does anyone know where I can find destroyable props? For example, I found one which is a window that has a morph for breaking the glass, so if you're doing an animation or comic strip it's easy to throw someone through it. I'm looking for walls that break, crushed or exploding vehicles, stuff like that.
I'm looking for something that I am pretty sure exists, but the announcement/discussion was in the old forums and the search function on those doesn't properly work any more. I drilled down about 30 pages in the commons and didn't find (or overlooked) the thread the discussion was in, so I figured I'd ask here before it got any further buried.
I am looking for a Phrygian cap. For that matter, I may already have one if there is one included in a commercial product (I'm thinking of the Hoplite Army). But I seem to recall one of the people in the Historical clothing thread having made and posted one somewhere. I'm pretty sure it was Poser dynamic, which is why I didn't download it. But I could probably use it as a prop and maneuver it into place.
So, any pointers? Can be a commercial product if necessary, but a freebie is prefered. I find I need to do an illo which references the Marrianne figure from the French Revolution, and the cap will certainly help.
Havve you tried asking in the new Historical clothing thread in the Commons.
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/1141/
Not yet, but will.
On ShareCG, Rosemaryr has some Phrygian caps in her gallery, amongst a lot of historical garments. Most seem to be intended for Poser dynamic use (a good sign that these might be what you were remembering)-- but I've used her ruffs as static props in DS, with good results.
If you want to search the old forums this is the way I do it from Google:
site:forum.daz3d.com [subject of interest]
Example
site:forum.daz3d.com d-former symmetry tutorial
The links are broken until you put in "archive" after "forum" but at least you don't have to search through 30 threads.

Once there was a Asari headpeace for V4 here on DAZ made by JamesJAB. Does anybody know where it has been gone?
