Got a mail this week with an offer from HP with a very interesting computer. The Sprout

https://sprout.hp.com/us/en/

While I don't like the name, and that I don't find it powerful enough, the concept is very innovative and well thought especially for artists
The combination of Intel's Realsense 3D camera, a 3D scanner and a projector make it a good set of tools for 3D work

When you see what you can do with that camera, and with the probable combination with Windows 10 and it's Hololens, I think we'll see some amazing things in 2016

Well pretty useless stuck to a computer IMO, except for gamers
I posed a question on their site asking about standalone camera for photography.
That is where the technology could shine

The idea seems good, but the videos seem to focus more on the people and their sales pitch... The shots of what they are actually doing seem pretty vauge... Too many shots of them surfing, walking around and giving pitches... No good close ups or direct correlation between what they are doing and what was made.
It kinda reminds me of a lot of products that I've seen at trade shows that seemed great but in real life were kinda lame.
That idea seems good, if it actually works as implied.

I can see some use in the movement capturing system inside DS for posing and expressions.
Manipulating 3D objects without mouse and keyboard too. Eventually sculpting who knows
These tech are new and need third party development to really show their potential.
We'll see next year how they evolve
