Reseting the origin point (Joint Editor and translate)

I'll try to explain this...
I have an object (http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/56999/ for details).
I've positioned it on the screen to where I want it to load. (y: 75.5, x-Rotate .37--all else 0).
I would like to define this placement to be 0,0,0 0/0/0 for the object.
I can move the anchor point around with joint editor. (it's set at 0.0.0 in the middle of the object). If I change it's Y to -75.5 then it'll be at the origin point (0,0,0) of the landscape, but the object still says y at 75.5, and if I change that to 0, the object goes below ground.
So, is there someway to change how the object defines it's location. like "Set current position to 0,0,0" ?

This may be a dumb question, but what happens if you save it from the position you've placed it in--then delete and load the saved object? Does it come back in where you want it?
(I ask because I don't know and have never tried.)
I was waiting to see what answers I got here before trying that :)
I saved the file, like Richard explained in the other thread, but when I load it, it loads in the same place as the current one, with the same coordinates.
Yes, saving it will reload it where it is.
But instead of simply saving it, once I have all the scaling, translations, rotations and whatnot done, I export it as an OBJ at the Studio scale, then re-import it, before saving it as a prop. It's a bit more work, but something I've always done. That also means if you are wanting things like doors that open, wheels that move and so on, you'll need to export those pieces separately (use the eye button in the scene tab). Then with everything but what you want turned off, export that piece...and repeat.
Then I make the whole thing invisible and lock it (the little X), so I can't accidentally select it, and start reimporting, again at Studio scale.
Once it's all back in, then I parent the pieces that need to parented, etc and save it as figure or prop (depending on what I'm working on).
Will exporting it as object keep color settings? We've discussed my problems with .mtl files before :(

(giveing it a try in the meantime).

Ok, that worked..though in this case, it's a single object with just colors, no maps on it, so it's an easy test of concept (which was the idea behind this).
Generally, if you export/import from Studio, with studio open, you can usually not worry about the materials...yes, it may still be finicky, but one of the other reasons to keep the 'original', until everything is back in...you can copy and paste the surface settings. Then when you save as a prop/figure, they WILL be kept.
