Why are there only jpgs/pngs in the animation gallery and not animated gifs?

It makes no sense whatsoever that an animation gallery would not have animations/animated gifs... Sure you can post a text link to your video off-site, but that entirely defeats the purpose of having a gallery dedicated to animations, as you can post a link in any gallery; I mean if you cannot even host animated gifs for your animation gallery, it ceases to be an animation gallery! :P

It wouldn't be so bad if most of the posters posted links to their animations instead of just pictures (IE: Jpgs/Pngs, and not one gif) of animation stills!

Is there something that I'm missing here?

If so, please enlighten me!

    Yeah, it's a catagory in the gallery, so it's more of an animation gallery's younger sibling. :D
