Second skin stockings?

Are there any shaders that can be used as stockings applied over G2F's skin?

I tried some stockings here in this example, but the skintight bodice will always cause the legging hip to break through. If I could apply a realistic stocking texture to G2F's skin it would resolve that problem... as well as any extreme bending issues that arise.

I'm used to Poser and Bagginsbill made a stocking shader in poser where the stocking shader sits on top of the leg skin texture. DS4 has kickass shader layering apparently.. would this possible?

Thanks in advance for any help! I'm loving G2F :)

This is an excellent product: http://www.daz3d.com/sheer-greatness

The stockings themselves are for Genesis 1, but the shaders will work on any surface in your scene.

    Another option is geometry shells

Very cool, Riftwitch - thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks Wendy Cats... I'll look for a geometry shells tutorial

    Thanks!

That occurred to me too but, not being experienced with geometry shells, I wouldn't know how to form them into shapes. For example, how would you create stockings from a geo-shell? Or tights (I think you call them pantyhose in the US?).

I have the Sheer Greatness set and they are really very good and work perfectly on G2F. Also, Zev0's new Fit Control product allows you to adjust layers of clothing to avoid the kind of poke-through shown in the original post.

If you have this product, http://www.daz3d.com/top-sellers/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female
and use V4 skin textures on your G2F, then you can also use Sexy Skinz Stockings by vyktohria on renderosity. It adds another layer on top of your existing skin textures of g2f. Unfortunately, it's a V4 texture so you need to use the V4 UV maps, but it works in DAZ straight up without having to save a .duf file like most other products.

Just select your figure go to edit create geoshell
set any smoothing collision on lower body wardrobe such as shoes etc to the geoshell too.
You apply a fishnet shader to the geoshell lower body offset ever so slightly from the leg, default is prob ok, the rest of the geoshell make invisible.
There are various free textures one could use as maps or you could make your own in gimp or photoshop and the UV mapping of the geoshell need not be the same as the figure, so any premade ones for V4 would work too but you could edit it in gimp or photoshop to just be the fishnet not the skin ie create a negative opacity map so the underlying skin shows through.

this or any other LIE textures can be applied to a geoshell with V4 mapping but you need a negative map in opacity, as it is LIE it should have transparency prolly a png so saving one out from Photoshop or Gimp should not be hard.
you can then use your V6 etc skin on figure underneath.

Sounds like a good project :) I've never tried to create my own textures using the texture maps. Those maps always looked like something the professional vendors would use.

A word about your collision suggestion though. Sounds fine for something which covers the whole of the lower body but not for stockings. Unless I'm mistaken, DAZ Studio can only apply collision to one underlying item - whether that be the figure herself or an item of clothing or a geo-shell. I've raised a support request for a multiple collision feature a few months ago but no sign of it yet.

I meant instead of your figure
the geoshell covers it like a second skin

Ok, I've read a few more threads about geometry shells - there do seem to be some interesting possibilities but I'm still not sure I understand how they work.

For example, the geo-shell inherits the UV map from the parent figure. Is that configurable for the shell? For example, could I have a V6 mapped texture on the body but a V5 mapped texture on the geo-shell?

Here's my thinking - I might have some textures for stockings for Genesis (V5 map) that I want to apply to a geo-shell on G2F (V6 map) - is that possible?

    yes it is

Thanks - I'll give it a try when I get back to my computer (I don't have DAZ Studio on my laptop).
