Catalog Deletions

Last weekend sale, I intended to buy the Beluga Whale, but I forgot to flag it. Next day, it was gone. Some other creatures have also disappeared such as Thylacine, and Platypus, and Tasmanian Devil.. Also most of the SilveryKey animals, only the deer left. The UPdated African Elephant and Baby, The A Bull's Day, and some of Noggin's animals are also gone. I have purchased quite a few of the AM now (Alessandro>_AM)and SilverKey animals over time. I realize that the older models might not do well for animation, but in a still scene they still work. A lot of creative energy went into these models. Lots of genres to use in. A menagerie in a haunted estate, a strange "outback" tale, a throw-back to ancestral story time, a collection of strange animals from Earth, a walk-about adventure, etc. I didn't buy the Beluga earlier as I thought it would be around. Bought the Orang at a low sale price -yesterday, because it has a lot of creative energy to it. Makes me wonder what else disappeared, yet I hope a "Open the Vault" sale might come up. When there are sales on realistic animals, I try to fill my library as they are affordable for me.

I love the idea of an 'Open Vault' sale! But I guess it could only be done with DOs, since otherwise the original PAs would have to agree.
I can still see some of these in store: Thylacine, Platypus, Tasmanian Devil.
Also African Elephant Updated.
And Beluga White Whale.
Are you looking for these products using store search? I couldn't find some of those that way either, it seems to be not working well at all. I found the Alessandro_AM ones by looking specifically at his store, the Elephant from my product library and the whale (also a lot of Noggin and Silverkey critters, not sure which ones you are looking for) by going through the main store page then "Animals and Creatures" from the categories at the top then just paging down till I found it.
Daz is really shooting itself in the foot by having such a poor search facility.
@ MelanieL: ....agreed. I usually just try to search via Google instead using "Daz3D <name or description>" It's not infallible (I sometimes get a a number of Daz forum references for example) but no where near as frustrating as the store search.
I didn't consider the approval would be necessary for certain models. Well, there are some DO's that would be welcomed in a Vault Sale.
@Melanieal, thank you for looking those "missing" products. I suspect they were not available from Monday until today due to repricing. Looks like DAZ realized the valuable products they have. Good to know those are still available, but eeek the base price is higher than ever.
Down to the basic situation, it's about sales for the artist as well as DAZ. I don't begrudge their share of sales. I just have a budget, I collect animal models just because I like animals, and I appreciate the models. I dance around discounted items to try to get the most. I'm not a professional, I don't make any sales of my stuff. It's just my artwork, like buying tubes of paint and cavassess for a hobby, not a business. But it worried me that my dancing around, trying to get the best deal might eventually end in loss of catalog items. So glad to findout they are just repriced, not stored in "The Vault".
It seems especially odd given that Daz vaults relatively recent generation items (G3).
Re: "Open the Vault" sale: That would be nice.
Edit: Another way to put it - even with the items that make the fewest sales, you're moving from a situation where the item has the potential to pay for its own hosting to a situation where it definitely won't.
I do recall some talk in the past about reducing the number of items to improve store performance, but the store seems worse than ever these days, so that's not particularly convincing.
That could be an actual position available: Executive Foot Shooter (EFS for short). Their job is to oversee and devise pricing structures and website revisions that have to be abandoned, along with debilitating the store search when it begins to work too well.
