Anyone ever seen "Unable to render. No renderer available." as an error message

And, if so, how did you fix it?

I rendered something fine. Today I came into DS and tried to render a basic scene and got that message. So I restarted DS, it failed again. I restarted the computer, restarted DS and tried again and it failed again.

Thanks

You'll get it if you're using an old Daz Studio version, like DS 4.12, and a newer graphics card, like nVidia RTX.

You also get it if you are on a Mac.  No nVidia hardware involved.

  • YAY!!! I got that today! I was rendering when nvidia was updating the drivers. unbeknownst to me it did an uninvited reboot. when it came back, i restarted daz but to my chigrin I lost my deviantart window scheme. ON TOP OF THAT, as I restarted the very same scene i was rendering before, it wouldn't/couldn't render; HOWEVER, in the beta version, it's working just fine. I submitted a help ticket, but it'll more than likely be over my level of novice. so i will continue to use the beta version till more people report this and it is addressed by the programmers at daz3d.

usually a white interface like that is the result of installing a new version of Daz Studio while the old was still running, corrupting the style files. I suppose it's possible that the restart while Daz Studio was running may have done the same. Have you tried Window>Style>Select Style to reload? If that doesn't help you may need to uninstal and reinstall Daz Studio.

Thank you Richard Haseltine, I thought as much, too. I also reinstalled the nvidia drivers that were in the process of upgrading (whilst I was a dazzing away) and went to an autoreboot. Funny thing is, My "Beta" version has no issues and works great; in fact i rendered the scene i was working on. I will probably be uninstalling ("stable") daz3d 4&20 and reinstalling it from scratch. with that said, I'll be backing up my renders and 3rd party stuff. So I will let you know - will probably take me a week to do so.

Well, the UI settings and style files are separate for each version, and each has its own code, so I wouldn't expect an issue that was related to any of thsoe to apply to both Beta and General Release.
