I've successfully used the HD Face Burns + add-on, but the body burns to mess up. Even when beginning will the body burns first, before the face, the same thing occurs.

    I don't have the product.

But have you first applied a geoshell, and then added the materials to that?

    Hi Rik,

Indeed, the body burns are set differently from the face burns (as they came out much later). While the face burns are LIE directly applied to your character, the Body Burns are applied via a Geoshell Werable. So you need to apply that first, then select the wearable and apply the LIE presets. A PDF with instructions is included with the product (alongside a script to spawn the PDF from within DAZ studio). Since I don't know which body burn product you own, I'm attaching all the PDF related to the male version.

And this promo details the process:

    So:

    1. Select and apply the burn morphs you want to use (optional).
    2. Select your character and apply the Geoshell Wearable Preset.
    3. Select the skin color preset material and apply that to the Geoshell Werable.
    4. Apply the LIE Masks presets to the Geoshell Wearable.

  • I have all of the Burns products: HD Face Burns for Genesis 8 Females, HD Face Burns AddOn for Genesis 8 Females, HD Body Burns for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Females, HD Body Burns Add-On for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Females, and HD Body Burns 2 Add-on for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Females. I have the matching products for males, also, just have not used them as yet.

I think I've discovered my mistake. I also purchased HD Body Burns 2 Add-on, which seemed to be part of the above body burns package, and used it exclusively, I believe, with Body Burns for the texture enhancement. Then I found HD Body Burns 2 for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Females just now, which is now on my wish list. So, I believe I was using the Body Burns 2 add-on causing the problem.

The HD Body Burns 2 Add-on has the following requirements: HD Body Burns and HD Body Burns Add-On, with no mention of HD Body Burns 2. Is that wrong?

BTW, as far as the PDFs go, yeah I read them over and was following them correctly, I think. wink

FYI, I'm attempting to have a group of orcs who ran into a party of dark elves with a fire mage. Both ultimately lost: the elves to the orcs' weapons. The orcs to the mage's fire bolts.

Thanks so much for your purchases and support. Indeed, if you only want to use the Add-On textures (and don't care about the morphs, which come with the base products) then the product will still work as a stand-alone. HD Body Burns 2 Add-on can either work on its own or in combination with HD Body Burns Add-on, since the second pack has a "bonus" geoshell that will combine the textures of the two packs via LIE (so using that one may take a while to load).

How the body burn packs were created is by texturing the entire thing, applying that to a geoshell, and then using LIE simply to build the cutout opacity masks. So if you see part of your character disappear, then that means that you're applying the LIE to your character instead of the shell. Of course, using the bonus presets without having the required packs will also cause problems, as the LIE will end up putting a solid black texture where the texture should be, causing part of the geoshell to be black.

That sounds like quite the battlefield! Would love to see the finished piece if you don't mind sharing it, of course! :)
