To get rid of the Yellow highlighting, change the Draw Style to Bounding Box Only.

Changing any of the Draw style properties shouldn't really affect much in your Viewport.

i can no longer manipulate or move the figure, things are disappearing etc

A fuller description would help, but you could try using Window > Workspace > Select Layout, and change to a different layout and then change back again. I don't know of any way to set Draw style to defaults, but there are very few parameters in to cause any problmes.

wow thanks for getting back so quick. i get how to get rid of the yellow highlighting, but i must have done something in the draw settings part because now i cant do anything with the figure at all. its like its locked or something. i'm just concerned with getting the figures hands and arms and legs to move, which i cannot at present do. can you PLEASE just tell me how to do it. the "different layout" thing sound too advanced for me to do.

is there anything in the draw settings that would make my figure locked like it is?

You should see a toolbar at the top of the interface, use either the Translate tool (Alt+Shift+T) or the Active Pose tool (Alt+Shift+P) and that should work for you.

If that doesn't work, you will need to post an image of your interface so that I can see what is going on.

thanks for all your help. is there ANY way to just start fresh and just get rid of this annoyance. i've uninstalled and re-installed but it saves these changes, which is really annoying. is there anything to do where it was before this mess started.

Have you loaded a new figure, and it is 'locked'?

You can lock figures from the Scene pane, but a newly loaded figure would not be locked. Have you tried with the Translate tool (t+Shift+T) oc click it on the toolbar. Then click on a body part in the Viewport and try to move it using the gizmo (arrows)

You can go to Edit > Preferences > Interface and click on the button near the bottom 'Restore Factory Defaults' and see if that helps.

ive done the restore factory defaults and it did nothing. i used the active pose tool and it does move the figures body parts, but i ve always used that one universal tool and it worked fine.

It is very difficult to help you without a screenshot of what you are seeing. I don't see anything in the Draw Settings that could cause this.

If you click on the 'Window' option in the top menu, select Workspace > Select Layout, then select 'City Limits' that may help you to get the original layout back.

To take a screenshot, use the 'PrintScreen' button on your keyboard, go into a photo editing software of any kind, use the From Clipboard function in that program to load the image.

Just above where you press the Submit Post button on this forum is a button marked 'Browse'. Use it to find the image on your PC, and that will load it to the forum when your presss Submit Post.

You should change the Layout again, the way you did the first time.

Instead of City Limits, try one of the other ones. Pleas try to post a screenshot of you UI, I am working in the dark here.

Perhaps my tool and draw setting will help.

thanks for all your help guys, but i FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT YAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what i apparently did was in my fiddling with stuff i clicked the "tool settings" from the "window" thing at the top and in tool settings i, for some reasons clicked in the "node selection mode" the "root node only". doing this for some reason disables one from moving specific areas of the body, but not the WHOLE body itself, which can be done with ease. so now its back to where it should be, whew. if you guys would like to add something like explaining to me "root node" and "node", im all ears
