No shadows in Daz Studio 4.20
Hi,
I just updated to Daz Studio 4.20.
ISSUE:
- Mesh Lights (soft box) AND Spot Lights do not cast shadow anymore when the "Draw Ground" is on
- the same if I want to use a custom Iray Matte shadow catcher surface.
REPLICATE THE ISSUE:
- create and area light (mesh light) AND / OR a spotlight
- a cube
- Render Settings tab: "Environment Mode" --> Scene Only. This way, only the spotlight / area light counts, and we don't have HDRI / Sun influence.
- Render settings: Draw Ground: ON
- or create a shadow catcher plane
You will see, there is no shadow at all. But if you change the light to HDRI or to Sun, then we have shadows.
I read that 4.20 broke a lot of light related features (ghost lights), but not having shadows makes the software unusable.
Please help.
Thanks!

Are you sure the emsh light is actually cintributing to the lighting at all? Does it case shadows on other items? It would help if you gave the luminosity and opacity of the light, your Tone mapper Settings (assuming either is non-default), and your AutoHeadlamp setting.
Scene only doesn't have a "Floor" to cast a shadow on.
Yes, I know it shows on the "Environment" settings when "Scene Only" is set, but it shouldn't as it's not used.
I just tried a test render using KindredArts' Iray Ghost Light Kit.
Here's what I have for my test scene:
1) 2 active ghost lights
2) Scene Only selected and Draw Ground set On in Environment settings
3) G8 male
When I render the scene, I get the rendered figure with ground shadows on a transparent background.
I'm not sure if this is what you're wanting to achieve, but this is what I'm seeing. Perhaps there are other parameters that I've set or not set that are different from yours?

Thank you! Now I know how to get an Iray render without shadows.
