Are There Any Convincing CRUSHED VELVET Shaders for iray? I found a fantastic shader but it's for 3Delight (I assume it's 3Delight) - in it's description it says
- Requires DS3 Advanced ~or~ DS3 Free + Human Surface Shader
- This Product will NOT work in Poser
Does that mean it will work with the current 3Delight render engine?

I'd be interested in the same info.
Maybe give my iridescent shader a try? (Despite the name, it does velvet pretty well)

Closest I've seen are some "fun fur" iRay shaders made by JGreenless for PC+ products a couple of years ago.
Are these close enough: https://www.renderosity.com/rr/mod/bcs/shader-plan---iray-velvety-fabrics/150998?AID=4987
There's an Iray version of the shaders from original post: https://www.daz3d.com/sparkle-shaders-for-iray
And yes, last I checked the 3DL presets (at least the USS ones) still worked in DS4. They use uberSurface shader which is included in DS4 default resources.
Thanks so much for testing the 3DL shaders!
The Iray version doesn't include crushed velvet, but thanks for pointing out the product.
These shaders look like suede. The pile isn't deep enough to look like velvet, and velvet has a pronounced shine that's absent in these shaders. In any case - the product doesn't include crushed velvet.
Thanks for poining out the Fun Fur shaders. They look to me like carpeting, and a few look like terry cloth.
If you're interested, do a google image search for pure velvet and for crushed velvet.
Though it may not meet your specifications, fabiana's shaders DO include crushed velvet.
velvet has a very short pile, 3Delight does microdisplacement, iray doesn't without massive subdivision so thats why you don't get the same results.
really short dense strand-based hair could be an option on a crushed displaced surface
the other option is layers of geoshells with cutout opacity of tiny white dots to create pile but that's probably heavier than the strandbased hair
