Hello all,
I recently purchased an article of clothing for Genesis 2 Female, but the file is all lumped together in a ZIP file and the contents must be applied manually to my DAZ library folder. However, when I try and bring up the dress, DAZ says 'Some assets needed to load the file are missing. The following files cannot be found:

data/dogz/super dress & leggings/super dress/super_dress_155.62.dsf.

I have put these files in my dafa folder but DAZ cannot locate it there. (plus the dress comes out in white blocks) Can anyone help me figure out how to load the dress in DAZS 4.7 or to at least point DAZ to where the missing data files are?

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Merc

If you are downloading and installing the ZIP file yourself, then you need to be aware that there is a folder called 'Content' that holds all of the installable items. The folder, Content, is really just a placeholder for the name of 'your' library, whatever that is.

If you are using 'My DAZ 3D Library' or 'My Library' or some other name that you use, then you must empty the contents of the 'Content' folder into that library folder. You do NOT want a folder called Content inside the library folder.

Assuming that you have done that correctly, you need to go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, and make sure that the path to whatever folder you are using as a library folder, is listed as BOTH DAZ Studio Formats AND Poser Formats in the Content Directory Manager.

Once that is done, DS should be able to see (and find) your content. From your error messages, it looks like the 'data' folder cannot be found, and the usual cause of this, is not having the paths to your library folder set up properly in the Content Directory manager.

    Hello Jimmy,
Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it. And you know, I think I have set up my entire my library folder where I just emptied each item out of the contents folder and simply placed everything in its own folder of my library. (people, data, etc are all separated) I think thats why DAZ cannot locate the data file of this particular clothing because its separate folders. I took a picture of how my library looks -I bet its a mess!- Should I, from now on, enter everything in the content folder when I have to manually install items?

    Thanks for your help!

The 'data' folder is where it should be, any data folders from the Content folder of the ZIP files should be merged with it.

You have a folder called 'content' and it should not be there, if it is DS or Poser content, it should be merged into the main folder, what does it contain?

You also have a folder called 'Plugins' and that shouldn't be there either. If it contains plugins for DAZ Studio, they should be installed into the Program Files folder.

The rest look much like mine (installed with DIM) except for 'Cities-Streets'. Does DAZ Studio see that, and what does it contain?

You need to make sure that the full path to your 'My Library' folder is listed in the Content Directory manager as detailed above.

Thanks for the quick reply Jimmy, and I will merge everything on content folders in data from now on. (most times items work fine as this is here, but a few are missing files here and there) And thats good that my folder looks like yours for the most part. Some things like cities/streets and DAZ TXs are put there manually because some files are damaged that I purchased years ago and when I select it, they ask for those missing files. So, to keep everything together, I created those seperate files to remember where these files are located.

But, I will make sure that the files are all under data from now on. Thanks again Jimmy for your help! :D

Glad to be able to help.

Just to be clear, it is only the files in the 'data' folder inside the ZIP that need to be merged with the 'data' folder in your My Library folder. All of the others with the same name as any folders that you already have, like 'People' or 'Runtime' should be merged with these folders.

The important part is to tell DS where your library folder is located so that it can find and display your content correctly.

If you have any further problems, you know where we are ;)
