Thanks for the Crabs!

Doc AcmeDoc Acme Posts: 1,153

I just wanted to say "Thanks" for someone finally making a Dungeness Crab.

I've been wanting on for ... a very long time.  Tried making one years ago, but too complex for me at the time. Difficult to study the articulation on a live one. And with the price of crab these days, this was way cheaper.

Still have the box of shell parts I scanned...

You don't hear people say that line a lot... I guess unless it's in anger... or they are cooked... it's definitely not something you want to shout out to someone in a crowd.

Yeah, fried versions with a nice amount of garlic butter would be splendid

Good crabs! They will do nicely on a sandy shore. I will not eat them.

Being from the Pacific North West, I'm a bit partial to the Dungeness.  A good crab Newburg and a pint or two of local IPA, I'm ready.

But the digal one is for another purpose.

For a short while I had a Rainbow Crab as a "pet" [if you can call such things pets]. It assured me that they are NOT food to be eaten. ;-)

Watching how it could maneuver its eyes all around, I figured yes, there really are aliens on Earth! They can fold them backwards and everything!

And yet we're still left without a geoduck model.

Although I've definitely encountered geoducks, I've never seen one in person. You'll just be walking along the beach and suddenly a jet of water from nowhere hits you.

There's even a "Geoduck fight song".

Not a crab, but "Leon" is gaining some minior YouTube fame  as a "grocery store rescue"

Yep, on a lark, somebody purchased a lobster from a supermarket's seafood department and spared it's life, setting up an aquarium for it.  He already had experience with saltwater tanks, so he didn't go into this totally "blind".  "Leon" seems to be thriving, having mo;lted at least once already and thus losing the scars from the elastic bands that were wrapped around his claws.

When I saw the title of this I was afraid to look. Until I bought the last of the 12 Constellation Warriors Series – Cancer.

both versions remind me of a hot dog sausage placed between two taco half-shells... which, considering the looks of a proper geoduck, is rather positive and SFW wink

And going on with crabs, how about
