Help Using v4-and-m4-shapes-for-genesis

Trying to get M4 faces such as man in the mirror for m4 onto genesis figure to get some unusual looking facial features-want to keep the genesis skin I make with pbr skin kit though

-does this set work like this?

_ I cant find it in library or from the item locations I copied from DIM

How do I use it and am I using m4 or genesis when I use it?

if there is a read me please give me the link,

thanks  a lot

-if there are some unusual looking faces of character for genesis, (as can be found in g8m's ), please let me know

No, the Michael 4 Morph gives Gensis the Michael 4 shape (via a slider on the figure) but doesn't allow other Michael 4 morphs to be used.

if you purchase the GenX2 product from DAZ, you could convert those (M4/V4) morph-sets (e.g. man in the mirror) for use on the Genesis figure, then accomplish your goal.

You can also extend the product with additional conversion add-ons to convert too/from G2, G3, as-well-as the legacy figures (V3, M3, etc.).

Note that this tool w/ add-ons allows conversion back and forth between any of the figures supported by the purchased add-ons.

hope this proves to be a more complete and useful answer in your quest.

Yes, that is the right tool, with many users having good results after getting the 'hang of it'. There are a few good independent youtube videos on its use (look for blacksun comics, I believe, and there's a few others that walk you through the process well enough to get you going). D3D's documents are complete and accurate, but not very usage or scenario oriented, so forum recipes and the youtube videos are really useful, but you'll also be able to figure out details using the Docs if you need to.

The tool will extract entire shapes from a figure, and/or specific morphs and morph sets that you choose. Be aware of this distinction as you use the tool, as there are use-cases where you may want just a slider or set of sliders for something like the brows, or, perhaps you want to simply convert an entire figure shape - head and body. Again, knowing this going in may help you decipher some of the tutorials and conversion recipes you bump into. Both modes are handy, but the workflows differ and results are obviously different.

Note that the base product includes the conversion tool and (only) the ability to transfer shapes to/from Genesis1 and V4 and M4. See the last paragraph in the product description. Add-ons for others are available, but there is no G8/G8.1 and as the original product developer has passed-away, there probably won't be. That said, there is a G3M/F GenX2 conversion add-on, and a completely separate conversion tool for G3 to G8 (Xtransfer? guessing at the name here).

Also of note, and it makes sense if you think about it, to really *match* the actual morphs that are applied to the base V4/M4 in the original products (e.g. man in mirror) you may have to purchase the "legacy shapes V4/M4" product(s) for your target figure as well to serve as the same base shape, such that the resulting GenX2 extracted morphs are working against the same starting V4/M4 figure shape on the target figure.

Yet, it's likely that the converted morph shapes, even without the original V4/M4 base shape will still result in a useable and potentially interesting figure result when applied onto the target 'raw'. Without the same base starting point, it won't be exactly like the original. You may even like the differing result better.

Lastly, although the Legacy V4/M4 Shapes for Genesis1 product is a "DAZ Original product" and will go on sale pretty often (esp for PC+ folks), the D3D PA products *never* seem to, except for store-wide sales (usually ~50% off), so maybe plan ahead get a giftcard (10%+ off) for your purchase and wait for a storewide sale to get the D3D GenX2 and any Add-ons at your best price. (Or just get it now and keep moving on your project, etc. :)

I've had great luck with it (mostly V4/M4 <=> Genesis1), even though I use it just often enough to have to relearn it every time, heh. Others may be able to add advice/caveats.

ETA: to your last question, yes. You should be able to load an M4 with the Man in the Mirror Morphs applied as you wish, and a Genesis target, and transfer entire shapes and/or specific morph sliders, making them available to your Genesis1 figure, with no residual dependence upon the original M4 figure or the original (man in the mirror) morphs.

    best,

Im happy to work with genesis, g8 is too realistic , since i cannnot get the render look the promos have but I am able to get it look somewhat like primitive art, and when I put g8 with m4 it doesnt look the same,

with g8f i am happy with figures with enhanced skin like Penny or vicoria 8 combined with either iray vellus or pretty base next generation

youre right I better grab it now , it'll be 16.77 today, thats worth it if I can bring the man in mirror faces to Genesis, I use geneneis instead of m4 becasue I can get his skin tone better with pbr ultimate skin set-

in terms of m4 joinmts moving while he is replaced in the scene I have figured out a hack for that-locking all bone rotations - so I would just assume use m4 instead of genesis if i could get the skin good enough

but for some reason I am able to get v4 skin satisfactory but not with m4

would you say it is easy to use without issues coming uop during the process?
