How to edit smart content (I want to add several assets to it)

Hi,

I managed to add my assets to the smart content by following this tutorial,

but forgot to include few assets in my product.

Is there any way I could edit my product (add several products) after I made the matadata?

Yes, right-click on ithe product>Edit Metadata

  • hi Richard,

Thanks! I found that menu but I'm not sure how to add stuff from here. Could you give me further instruction? I made a product which consists of 1 figure and 5 poses, but I want to add several material sets for the figure here.

You need to add the files in the Product tab, which is the first that opens (you can do it by folder) via a right-click in the Files area, then you can select them and edit their actual properties in the Assets tab just as when you first set the product up

You can add any asset that is in your Content Library to any existing product by selecting the item(s) in the Content Library that you want to add to an existing product and then right clicking on any one of them to bring up a pop-up menu wherein you can choose Create a Product from.  In the Create a Product pop-up window, enter the exact name of the existing destination product where you want to add the item(s).

For example, in the attached screen captures,

    1. If I select and right click on the Old Barn in the product list, I will add all of the items in the Old Barn product (sets, props and materials) to an existing product.

    2. If I select and right click on the Materials product of the Old Barn in the product list, I will add only the materials to an existing product.

    3. If I select one or more (or all) of the items in the Old Barn product (for example, just the sets and right click on any one of them, I will be able to add just the sets in the Old Barn product to an existing product.

To ensure that I have the exact name of the destination product, before I start the process above, I select the destination product in the Content Library, right click on its name and select Rename; I then highlight the entire name (Ctrl-A) in the pop-up window and copy it (Ctrl-C) to the clipboard.  Then when I need to enter the destination product name for the item(s) to be added, I paste (Ctrl-V) the copied name into the text field of the Create a Product pop-up window.  This way, I know that I have the exact name of the destination product.  If it is not exact (for example, containing an extra space or missing a comma or dash), a new product will be created for the selected item(s) rather than the item(s) being added to an existing product.
