Shader Presets - Questions on Use Preferences

Hi All,
I am in the process of making some shader presets for DS (which I intent to sell here) and I have some questions about what people want to see in a shader pack. These are questions more about how you use shaders than about what types of shaders you want to see.
1. Do you prefer to:
a) have some basic presets that come in various colors/patterns and then have other presets that just add things to it, such as a bump map, etc ?
b) have a lot of presets with each color/pattern with each bump map, etc already applied to it? Obviously, this would require a lot more presets.
2. Do you prefer that a shader preset keep the original bump/displacement/normal maps that are already on the object? This could be handy in some cases but may be confusing in other cases? Maybe have it both ways?
3. Is it important to be able to see the tiling size in the Texture Shaded preview? Or is doing a spot render good enough?
4. Is it important to be able to change the tiling easily?
5. Anything else that you can think of?
Thanks!
Janet

1=a Too many presets are hard to sort through. Your leather shaders are great, but I wish color, shine and grain were separate to reduce clutter.
2= No. That can easily be done by holding down the Control key when applying the shader.
3=Spot render is good enough unless it is easy to show in preview.
4=I find tiling presets useless. I can change tiling in the surfaces tab as long as you provide the user parameters to change. Tiling presets are clutter to me.
5= Make them PBR for Iray.
1 a) just hope there are many texture,, and I can use as I like,, and easy mix your offered preest for each parameter.
(appreciate good tips or your recommend setting with )
2 (I miss udnerstanding your quesiton sorry, then edit)
I hope it can work as usuall way.. just with ctrl key, then apply shader and choose,, overwrite texture or not,.
maybe some prameter not work,, but if I use your shader preset, after daz default shader with texture,,
with ctrl key,, most of texture not be changed.
3 spot render good enough. after all we need to adjust tilling size.
4. if it means ,I need tilling size preset, no. but I hope to tweak tilling size for each property.not to one tilling size for all properties.
it seems more important. I like layer type shader. even though most of case I do not use it,
sometimes I hope to add texture with UV default on base tylling textures.
eg I use base default tiling texture for diffuse, but hope to add detail by texture no tilling with UV template,,,
with 2d imate editor,,, or I hope to cahnge tilling for bump only etc,,,,
then if you can add such opacity layer properties with base preset (for tyling)
and detail preset ( I hope use it with LIE ) much appreciate. ^^;

I find myself preferring the shader to be separate from things like color. For example, it annoys me that the only velvet shader preset for Iray that comes default with DAZ is *red* velvet. If I have something blue that I want to turn velvet, now I have to mess around with it. I want to be able to keep my old image maps and textures and just say "Make this velvety." Now, you sort of can, with the "ignore" feature and ctrl-clicking, but I would rather have the default be to just create the substance for the shader. Then if you have colors and such, let them be applied separately.
I don't need to see tiling details in the preview window. I'm used enough to not seeing stuff until I hit render.
I do prefer to be able to change tiling not just easily, but separately per channel. In particular, I often have a diffuse map that I have created, which is flat, and want to apply patterns and bump maps to it, e.g. to make the pattern appear on a cloth shirt. I need to be able to tile the cloth bump map to make it look good, but NOT tile the diffuse map.
Iray already lets you do this, and in 3DL you can use Tiler Shader for it. Not sure what your product will be compatible with but if you make sure that your presets come with this in mind it might be helpful.
That is my opinion too.
Thanks for the input :)
Got it. Thanks for your input too.
Thanks for the input! I am curious how Iray lets you change the bump map tiling without also changing the diffuse tiling. I'm not seeing how to do that.

Thanks for the reply :)
Thanks for the input! I am curious how Iray lets you change the bump map tiling without also changing the diffuse tiling. I'm not seeing how to do that. Click on any image map of an Iray PBR shader. Select Image Editor. Click on Instance Tiling. Change Horizontal and Vertical tile settings. Diffuse map can be set separately from bump, displacement, etc.
That's great! Thanks!
