Making static wheels look like they are spinning for animation

The wheels do not move on this or on a car for example is there any way to make the effect during animation that they are spinning as the vehicle moves forward?

thanks

You could add a plane with a motion-blurred image of the spokes as an opacity map.

    Interesing,

and rotate that plane to simulate a spinning motion, how would you determine how much to rotate it if that is the method , can someone give me any starting point, that may take a while t ofigure out if only renderd series wil lshow the wheel spinning I can see how it will work on a car

where there is no obstruction in front of wheel but on a bike

how will the image be in back of the wheel supports outside of the spokes?

You can use a dformer with a wieightmap on the wheels in order to rotate them.

That will be good, can you explain or share a link or YouTube that can explain the deformed with weight map. Thank you

You can look at this thread that explains the different steps.

Basic idea is to select the object, add a d-former, select it, in the parmeters>influence choose "weight map", and paint it with the "node weight map brush" tool. Paint red one wheel and put all the rest at 0. After that, you will prbably need to move the dformer base so that it is at the center of the wheel and apply a rotation.

I never did it for a wheel, but I used this method many times to make a door or a cupboard openable.

wow great, thanks alainmerigot, was very time consuming to do a door or cupboard?

No. The geometry of a door is simple and weightmapping is easy. Maybe 15-20mn. (and I am not a champ).

It should be longer with a wheel, because you must paint the wires, the tires, etc.

yup thats the best solution for daz indeed I use this trick for airplane propellers with great results

I used a pane in this animation for the planes prop motions  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHtNLJTPZc4

for wheels though I just add/parent a wheel prop to the bike or car and rotate it as needed
