Need weight mapping help

I'm trying to adjust the weight mapping for a clothing item I have made. But I cannot for the life of me get it smoothed out very well, or figure out how to 'copy' the weight map over to the other side so that they are symmetrical.
Here are some screen shots.

Moved to the DS forum, as it is unlikely that you will get much response to this query in the New Users Help Forum.

There are smoothing commands in the right-click menu with the Node Weight Map brush, as well as the ability to smooth with the brush itself in the Brush Mode right-click sub-menu.

This is what it originally looked like before I completely subtracted the crotch area.

Subtracting the crotch area helped, but it is still not as smooth as i like it. Turning the smoothing modifier up to 10 helps, but not that much... And I still cannot get the left thigh to mirror the right thigh... I right click and tried to use several symmetry options and nothing works, it always looks the same.

OK, so I have managed to get it to a point where I'm happy. Now, how to make it symmetrical on the other side.... I tried right clicking and choosing "weight map symmetry" and make sure it says x axis, right to left.... but nothing changes.

HI,,,, If your model is perfect symmetly, then you do not Lock any node, or poligons about weight map,,
I feel you may better send bug report.

But if you added detail (I feel so but do not know clear from your pic,,) already, and the mesh not keep perfect symmetly,
weigth map symmetly may not work well as you expected,,,
