I have a RTX 2070 and 32gb of RAM. I'm new to daz and picked up

The scene I created has thousands of instances of trees and rocks. They are all in groups that I don't want to get rid of because it doesn't suit my scene, and it doesnt look like i can individually target single items outside the camera frame. Any advice on what to do ?

What is Instance Optimisation set to in the Editor tab of Render Settings - it should be Memory for this (though the default Auto will probably do that) and definitely not speed.
Also make sure you are not using iray preview.
Yeah really important as well, as well as the memory setting
viewport preview
When mine renders to black it is because it ran out of vram (I have render to CPU off). There are a couple of ways to help reduce instances in US, there is a camera view in US that you can check and it will only place instances in the field of view from the camera, hiding various groups of instances like rocks or leaves.
