As the title says, I no longer have my iray default shaders. Everything is up to date, including ds content.

It's a bit difficult to assess the problem without more information. What version of DS are you using and did you have them up until this latest version?

    Did you install using DIM?

People installing updates in the following order: Public Beta 4.8.0.55 - Release 4.8.0.55 - Public Beta 4.8.0.56 using DIM get their iray shaders wiped because of installing the latest 'Public Beta content DS' which actually is empty .zip. So installing it wipes all shaders that was in previous 'Beta content' and unfortunately they are the same shaders that one of release installers have. Reinstalling 'starter' content packs doesn't fix the problem as they have only character-specific shaders, not general or NVidia samples.

This mostly affect people having content in non-default location (not in /Users/Public/My DAZ3D/) and trusting DIM to install everything. Like me :)

Edit: I was too quick saying that release installer has default iray shaders. It only has MDL and NVidia example textures but not .dufs. So I think it has to be submitted as bug report.

The Iray shaders are now part of the Default Lights and Shaders for DAZ Studio 4.8+.

So how do I fix it? My content is in Public, but I do use DIM.

Have you tried re-installing the Default Lights and Shaders for DAZ Studio 4.8+ package from the DIM as jestmart suggested?

The situation with DIM overwriting one install with another comes from having DIM install both the beta and the release to the same location.I use a 1TB drive for all my Studio stuff. I have 4 folders on it.Beta, Release, Install Manager, and Content.I use the DIM for everything and I've not run into a problem with this setup so far.

I had missed that. It did the trick.

    Thanks gang!

As an updated FYI, this problem still exists in Daz Studio 4.9 Pro. To fix the problem you must now uninstall and reinstall the package Default Resources for Daz Studio 4.9+. The package is no longer named Default Lights and Shaders for Daz Studio. If only Daz would standardize their packaging names across all versions so we can more easily find them after each update. I guess that's just too much to ask.

The SKU is the same so if you are using DIM Default Resources should show as an update for Default Lights and Shaders as was.

I have my library on my SSD card which is my D.Drive as it has more space, I put the new path in the DIM and all installs well.

Why is it better to have it in the default location?

I set my filter to public builds and installed the new 4.9 as well as gen2 as suggested by a friend.  Everything installed nicely and I have the new Iray shaders. I've been working with it for almost a week now. So far so good.
